Redwood,

It ain't cool to act like a happy customer when you have financial ties to the product. You start out your business by lying right off the bat.

Please stop insulting our intelligence while you are at it Todd.

RE: What do I need and where to buy EPP 3D plane?

Chulian,

That would be a great site to use, especially since they ship all over the world. I use them all the time for parts shipped to the US.

You would still need to buy:
Battery and Charger : 2S~3S 800mah 15C
Servo : 3 x 9g (any 9 grams in your price range)
ESC : 18A
Receiver: yes, you would have to use a Spectrum receiver to make your radio work with the plane. AR500(basic) or AR6300(nanolite)
Extra props: 8x3.8 or 8x4

Good luck....

RE: What do I need and where to buy EPP 3D plane?

Thanks a lot guys!

Zim-uh-tosa  do you know a specific charger from hobbyking? I also was told that the 18A was a bit too much A, so im going for the 12A (or theres somthing I dont know?), for know I decide:

Whats decided:

-The plane: Piaget EPP-CF <font color="#22229c">http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8472</font>
-The receiver for my DX6i control: spektrum Ar6110
-Online store: <font color="#22229c">http://hobbyking.com/</font>
-3 servos:
Futaba 3114 x1 (ailerons)
HXT500 5g x2 <font color="#22229c">http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=663</font>
(these servos match with the spektrum rx?)
-Use the original stock motor (and buy a spare turnigy 19g <font color="#22229c">http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=6547</font> or a blue wonder? <font color="#22229c">http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2069</font> or other?)
-4 batteries (is this enough for flying and also recharging all day?)
ZIPPY 800mah 2s 15C 43grams (or better turnigy?)
<font color="#22229c">http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6787</font>
(to use in the original stock motor is ok? :P in other forums say that a 3s gives good power but overheats the motor….)
-Thunder AC6 smart charger (cant find it on hobby king, other suggestion welcome http://static.rcgroups.com/forums/im...es/biggrin.gif )
-12A ESC <font color="#22229c">http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2161&amp;Product_Name=TU RNIGY_Plush_12amp_%282A_BEC%29___BESC</font> (is it ok? any recommendations? :P )
-Watt meter (is this one ok? <font color="#22229c">http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10349</font> )
-Foam safe CA (or UHU?).
- Blenderm Hinge Tape .

Whats left to decide:

-Additional props (any recommendations and quantity? is <font color="#22229c">http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10046&amp;Product_Name=G WS_EP_Propeller_(DD-8040_203x102mm)_(6pcs/set</font>) the same as 8x4dd gws?r or is it better the recomendation of hobbyking gws 9050 slow flyer? <font color="#22229c">http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10047</font> )
-Additional things to buy not listed that i should buy :P
-where to fly :P

Thanks for the tips guys :)

RE: What do I need and where to buy EPP 3D plane?

Chulian,

Can I ask you if this plane is being flown inside or outside? This plane is made for indoor and would hate for you to buy this for outside use. It would work of course but any little bit of wind would make it very difficult to fly outside.

Since there are no specs on that motor, I am unsure if a 12A ESC would be better or not. They recommend an 18A, I would buy that one. You cant get away with a smaller ESC for long without something burning up. A larger ESC than required is fine, for it provides extra insurance. I always try and get a larger ESC than recommended. I got sick of frying the ESC early....

Zippy batteries have worked out fine for me. I like the price of them for sure. I have not had much success with turnigy products, they are hit and miss with me.

My favorite servos on the planet are Hitech. If you have the money, buy the servos that have the karbonite gears. You will probably never ever break the gears inside. You can of course fly the plane with the HXT, but those HXTs gears suck suck suck!!! And the motors in them suck suck suck....Trust me, I have used the Tower Pros and the HXTs and they are about the same, suck!! Ill never use them again. Buy good servos and you will feel more connected to your plane. If you cheap out on the servos, you will be replacing them over and over and have crap performance. I use HS-65HB's but A great little servo for you would be the HS-45HB or if you want heavier, the HS56-HB....

I have no comment on chargers, there are way too many! Just make sure that you get one that will grow with you. Meaning that if you plan on going bigger sometime, get a charger that will also charge larger batteries. My charger (Thunder Power 610-c) charges anything from .25a(250mah) to 10a(10,000mah)......

I would think to keep the weight down you would want to use foam safe CA. I use white, fast-dry gorilla glue for my foamies but it takes a ton of practice to not over do it. It grows, and grows and grows if you use it with the recommended water.

Good luck....

Z

RE: What do I need and where to buy EPP 3D plane?

Life saving tips with the servos! thank you very much Zim-uh-tosa! But Icant find the HS-45HB servos on hobbyking, any other servo recomendations available in HK?

About the ESC, the stock motor is a 1100kV. I have a n issue with some stuff that have no stock and others (like the rx Ar6110 ) cant find them at all... how often do HK reloads its stock?

My wish list of things I need you can check it at:

RE: What do I need and where to buy EPP 3D plane?

Hey,

You need to first match the weight of the plane with how many watts per pound you want. For 3D, you are going to want at least 125-150 watts per pound or more! I fly 178 watts per pound right now and my plane is very powerful.

I would not buy that particular motor for the reason that it is recommended for a plane that is 220g or lighter. Your planes weight is going to be closer to 240g (that is .529 lbs)[link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6633&Product_Name=C20_br ushless_Outrunner_1550kv]Check out this motor[/link]. It will give you 149 watts per pound and make that plane fly much better for 3D. If you don't like that motor, look for a motor that has 75-85Watts and you will be golden. It will still be okay to use the 12A ESC with this motor as well.

Sorry, I do not know where you can get the Hitec servos shipped to you from closer than the US. maybe you can find them at local Hobby shop? [link=http://shop.tomsrc.com/index.php?cPath=76]Here is where I buy my Hitecs from[/link], they do ship Internationally and it should be relatively cheap.

Good luck Chulian....With whatever you decide.

Whatever man...I know that I am correct that you are posting as/for Todd. You are the only person on this site that I have seen that owns these planes. You also happen to live in the same city as the place of business in question.....

You come on to multiple threads and try and sell the idea of these generic looking, I-just-bought-a-phlat-printer yaks, without any information other than the fact that you "own a few" and "I know where you can get a great EPP plane"...

Next time try and be a little more honest in your posts, mkay? I told you not to insult our intelligence and I mean it. If you were honest from the beginning when introducing a new product, no body would even care. They would look at your site, shrug it off as yet another copy of a copy of a copy and then buy something else.

Good news! In a local store I found the AR6110 and even better the AR500!! still missing the piaget at HK :(

RE: What do I need and where to buy EPP 3D plane?

Here's a different source for the same piaget. They have a few more in stock. They are also in HK...[link=http://www.bestvaluerc.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=203]Best value RC[/link]..

I am unsure how much it would cost you to have it shipped to Columbia but you could go through the checkout (without paying) and see if it will tell you before you pay. If it costs too much, just bail out of the sale...

Chulian,

Don't know, Never used them. I have used about 3 different shops from HK and they all sent the stuff to me with no problem. Some just seem to take much longer to get to the US. It is the same exact plane though, i know that much! haha

One last question:

What brands of battery charges you recommend for under 60$ to use in a 800mah 2s 15c battery? or what minimun specifications the charger must have to use in the 800mah 2s 15c batteries?

thank you in advance guys :) http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/thumbup.gif
