Default YS 110 FZ OR OS 120 AX For ESM Adrenaline?

Dear Fellows,

I received my ESM Adrenaline 120 yesterday;

http://www.esmmodel.com/inc/Enproductdetail.asp?productid=99

Ineed expert opinionfor the selection ofengine for it. Of course Iwant it to be my 3D practice machine and occasionally pattern rotuines since this model is based on these 2 flying types.

On my list Ihave two engines;

1. YS 110 FZ
2. OS 120 AX

Please also suggest suitable servos & propeller size required for a smoot hovering & 3D performance.

Regards,

I would go with the 120AX in this case. It will pull a little better than the 110YS.
16x6 for break-in 17x4 or 17x6 once it's run-in. APC, Xoar, or JXF.
You can get a little more power and lose a couple ounces with a mac's one-piece muffler #6996 or #6990.
I don't have any experience with this airframe but plenty in it's size/weight class.
I'd pick servos with 150oz. for the ailerons and 180oz. or more for the rudder/elevator.

ThumbSkull,

Thank you for the advise! Do you think that 4 strokemay bemore reliable while doing torque rolls than a 2 Stroke?

No, but if I were going to pick a 4-stroke for that, a YS140 would be good.
AX120 is a great engine that has been proven very reliable.

What servos do we require to fly 3D in this 68" 120 powered mode? Digital Or Analog? Karbonite Or Metal Gears? What torque will be sufficient?

I would recommend HS645MG - best bang for the buck.

I would use HS-985MG's on the tail. The 645's would be OK on the ailerons. Digital servos are not really necessary til you get pretty good.
The servos usually do outlast the airframe though and for that reason, I usually get the best I can afford.

I wouldn't build up any bird these days without using A123 2S. No regulator needed. Charge in 15 minutes.
NiMh "AA" packs can't make the current you need, take hours to charge and are heavy for the amount of power you get from them.

Yes, that would run it a couple flights. I would probably go for a larger pack 1900-2200 mAh in size.

Fully charged state is 6.6V and after turning the RX on, they go down right close to 6V and stay there till the pack is nearly drained.
The only drawback to LiFe is you cannot determine the amount of charge on the pack by the voltage.
Just keep track of the flights and know how much you are putting back in the pack.
You can get them many places. I get mine from Richard at [link=http://www.shop.kavarootusa.com/category.sc?categoryId=10]WrongWayRC[/link] wired however I like.

I have 6 ys 110s so if you ask me, I'd go with the YS110. over the 120 It'll swing a 17x4 with no problems at all. The only advantage I see with the 2 stroke is they do start better at -5 below...JW

I break-in and run my YS110's on a 16x6. I have only 3 of them ATM. Great engine.

The YS is a real stump-puller, you'll love it. Break-in is very important, follow the directions. Keep it rich, and using a tach helps.

Default RE: YS 110 FZ OR OS 120 AX For ESM Adrenaline?

Guys!

Finally the model is ready with my occupied routine. THEISSUE! With YS 110 YZ, the model needs 700+ grams of dead weight to balance its CG. I had a spare brand new OS 160 FX with standard muffler, after installing it the model is perfectly balance. But now I am into 2 new problems;

Issue # 1. Will the fiberglass fuse of this model handle the beating of OS 160 FX and will not rip appart during flight? Different sites recommend bigger engines too for this plane, may be because of its tail heavy issues like this;

http://www.austars-model.com/dispdet...04192232107314
They say:-
Wingspan: 68 inch (1.73 meter)
Wing area: -sq.dm
Flying weight: 8.5 lbs
Engine required: 130-180 two stroke or 150-210 four stroke, 26CC-30CC gas recommended.

Issue # 2. Engine mouting fitting is inverted, muffler coming from left side of the model looking too ugly Would Bisson inverted wraparound pitts muffler would do it?

Thanks!

Sunny.

For once I agree with you Thumby!! the 110 is the most over-rated engine ever made!!! I had two of them but would go the AX over it every day of the week!!

I don't find the YS overrated, it's just a normal,average AWESOME YS!   Great power, reliable, durable engines.

 Will the fiberglass fuse of this model handle the beating of OS 160 FX and will not rip appart during flight?
I think you'll find the OS runs quite smooth, but the 4-strokes will be more stress on the airframe.

The YS is a descent engine but remember its people that make them over-rated, and they are the YS fanboys. I sold mine and thought they were ok engines but did not have the raving power people say they do, they are dam heavy and can be a ***** if they decide to act up. They are expensive to top it all off as well, and run expensive fuel!!!

I'm wondering if a DL 20 would be a nice match for this person's airframe

i know the ESM warbrids come in tail heavy , at least with modern motors

I have no idea about there sport planes also I wasn't impressed with the hardware just IMO

AS120AX also i think is more user frienldy then the Y.S in regards to thumbskulls post up there just thought I'd add that
