Default What is a good first 3d rc plane

HI guys i can fly rc planes but i only really fly vintage style planes and the occasional warbird and lately i have been thinking a lot about 3d lately so i was wondering what would be a good plane to learn 3d flying on i had a go on a friends parkzone sukhoi and it was fun but i only managed a few rolls i am relly thinking of something small like a micro or a parkflyer but if something bigger would be a lot better i would probalbly go for that.
I like building kits so am quite versatile to state of assemly.

Go for a Profile. If you have even basic building Skills, a MoJo of the size of your choice. Otherwise there are a couple of decent ARF ones out there. Maybe someone will chime in on the better of the ARF profiles as the only ones I have any personal experience with are from kits and even witn my mediocre skills I can build most of the Profile Kits in a few days.

Nothing beats a decent profile for 3D

go with the fun world 3D from world models
this plane is built for a brushed motor, so when you load it with a brushless motor it will be very good for it, plus this kit is very cheap, less then 40 U.S dollars and it is very easy to controll, if you want videos visit

this is my plane with dualsky brushless motor and JR mini servos and a 11.1 volts 2650 mAh you could go for 9 minutes of intense flying

go with foam on your first 3d bird. It'll save you a lot of time and money up front. Once you got the basics, then think about balsa.

A profile - like my OMP 47inch edge or just an electric foamy would be good.

skip the micro stuff, they dont fly that well and are not suitable for learning 3D

You need to decide if electric or nitro would be your power choice.
If money is not a problem then it does not matter, but its best to pick a power plant that can easily transfer into other aircraft that you may like.

I'd get an electric that uses the common and readily available/cheap 2200mah 3S lithium, this battery is widely used in many good airframes from foam to balsa and helicopters.

If going nitro a good bearing .46 to .55 or bigger is desirable.
4 strokes are often preffered as they have a lower available power curve and torque.
.72 to .91 are common mid size motors in 4 stroke nitro.

So follow up.
I got given a UMX extra 300 and I loved it and could hover for 3+ minutes in the living room.
But I got damaged in transport so I decided to order a mojo .60 do we will see how that goes.

Hopefully soon I can be part of the profile brotherhood lol
From what I have done 3d Is so damn fun!
Went for the mojo because I wanted something I wouldn't be afraid to throw about and try new things with.

I have had all of Swanyshouse model's. And this is by far my favorite. Primo with 20cc beam swinging a 17x8 prop. Unreal!
