So, unless it is strictly forbidden, you think that hovering over the runway with other flyers concentrating on their own planes is safe..?

Yes

Except for landings, takeoffs and announced touch and goes [with other pilot's present at the pilots stations] none of the fields I fly at condone prolonged flight right over the runway unless they are having a fun fly event. The bulk of the flying should be down range of the runway.

Kind of eliminates most of the challenging 3D manuvers....doesn't it?

Anyone who thinks that hovering right over the runway with other pilots busy flying their own planes is a clueless moron.
If you are amongst like minded flyers who are all onboard with ''group hovers'' over the runway, then of course have at it. Just don't mindlessly, or foolishly expose other flyers to that sort of risk and expect them to be happy with it.

I must say that classifying all 3D pilots as morons, certainly isn't very flattering, but it is still above the imbecile or idiot class you put yourself in with your narrow mindedness.

Have a good one,
Greg

Now yes I've been guilty of hovering over the runway, but when ever a plane enters runway airspace I always fly out of it.
Of course my 3D plane cost around a grand and I don't want any mid airs

WOW, Really, some of what I just read is the point. But first, There are a few of us going on a field trip of sorts to visit Ottumwa Iowa July 7th. cfircav8r You could meet the Eldon Group there if you like. We are going to have a great day flying with some Iowa friends.

1. dgholmes59 Said 3D flying is what got me into RC airplanes a couple of years ago.

I agree, the only group that is still growing in numbers is the 3Ders.

2. lopflyers those videos are living evidence that circle flyers can be more dangerous than 3D

3. InboundLZ In my experience, 3D flyers can and often ARE a danger. The worst thing is some of you guys should know better....the 3D guys on the other hand knows what he is doing ( or should anyway) and yet you will find them hovering in your face or all over the runway in front of the pilot boxes.

I hate to inform you but, NO 3D airplane has been part of a clame with the AMA now for the past 3 years.
Opps, The above is simple hate towards 3Ders, #Dhusker is right those who do can and those who can not ......

4. Propworn I see is from the 3D bunch complaining about everyone else.

Thats rich, when it is pointed out the 3D bashing this is said. You are so funny or .....

5.init4fun Could it be that 3D isnt really the "problem" there , but that one selfish pilot's attitude IS Of course , Hovering over an active runway is just plain rude , but I hasten to judge an entire flying style by the actions of a couple of jerks .

Here is a new 3D hate name calling. JERK.

Really, Maybe you guy should give up your hate on the safe "Group" and start looking other places. I hate seeing hate towards a group that has done nothing but increase the numbers in our hobby. Seeing the clubs the hate by restricting 3D is what you Anti 3Ders should be looking at. Really, Keep the hate going? You have to ask yourself something. Do I want our hobby to grow? The 3Ders say yes. Your actions with all this unfounded anti 3D says NO.

crash, continue to live in your fantasy world where no 3Ders have ever done anything wrong...where no 3Ders are capable of doing anything wrong...where they have never done ANYTHING to deserve such a bad reputation.
Continue to operate in the delusional fog where it's all about jealousy and hate.
You remind me of the Reverend Al Sharpton.

CP, I understand the jealousy problem. All my life I have been envied for my rakish good looks, my athletic prowess, my business acumen, my attraction for women, my suave manner, glib wit and other infinitely desirable characteristics. I have avoided the hate issue only because my wonderful personality, modesty, and winning way make me impossible to dislike.

Still the hate and bad information given out here. It is a fact in the AMA reports on clames sent to the AMA. As a group the 3Ders are the ones in the safest group. It is what it is.

Now I still see the hate towards the group "3Ders"and you have to ask why? Is it when this group flys you non 3Ders feel their thunder has been stole? Are you thinking Look at me or Look at my plane, not they guy flying 3D. While you are thinking all that hate you should look at this guy flying.

He is enjoying the hobby and he is part of the group that is building up our hobby with new members in the AMA. So if you are anti 3D you are against our hobby. This is the group keeping your insurence as low as it is. Remember 0 reported Clames! I will even go to the point of any club that bands 3D is a bad club that is anti AMA.

3D fliers are not hated. They are, however, very paranoid.

We get 10 or 12 in the air at a time for full contact combat. Nothing like the sound of coraplast getting shreaded.

You are blessed to have a big group of fun loving flyers in your area. Something like you describe would only be a pipe dream around here...unless the local indoor RC guys are doing it at the local indoor soccer building.
