Hey Ace, if I use the rcexl opto kill, I won't need to take the black and red right? It looks like it has an input for a battery and a separate input for the receiver and then an output for the ignition.. I could be wrong though..

I've found this example but seeing as how we've established that the Spektrum RX and the DLE35 ignition will accept 6.6v with no issues, do I still need the BEC or can I delete it?

Yeah that would be awesome Ace. I'd probably get my head around this easier with a picture.

Awesome, that's what I was thinking too. So I no longer need a BEC in my proposed setup. I figure it like this..
Battery out put 1 - switch - RX
Battery out put 2 - switch - opto kill - splits to IGN and RX

Correct, red and black to ign battery plug and white to rec ign kill port.
But above all if you don't remember anything remember this. Do a timed flight to establish your batteries flight time. I recommend doing one and recharge and calculate. Then do two flights, recharge, add the first time to the numbers and calculate. You really need a good average to ensure the batteries average flight time ability. That is the only down side to the LiFe batteries, when they run out they are out.

Ok thanks Ace, I'll definitely do that. I'm going to invest in a good charger because right now I just have a basic duratrax one that doesn't support LiFe and doesn't have an LCD.
What do you recommend for switches?
As for the red/ black to IGN and white to RX.. That'll be set on the opto kill? Or will I have to splice it about?

I'm sorry skerts, you don't have to seperate the red and black, my bad. You are right in that the RC Excell has a battery plug, reciever plug, and an ign plug.
For the switches I like the miracle dual switches. I get mine from BPHobbies

Check out these switches.  I have used all 3 and haven't had an issue yet.

http://www.boomarc.com/en/wallaby-switch-dual-with-battery-voltage-monitoring

http://www.boomarc.com/en/booma-rc-opto-ignition-switch

In my 35% I run 3 batteries.  2 Lipo for the rx with batshare unregulated with high power rx and high power servos.  1 Lipo for ign with a 6v reg.

Same setup in my 30cc just smaller batteries.

Thanks for clarifying Ace, that'll make things easier for sure.
And thanks Chymas, I'll check them out and the miracle switches.
