I see companies selling a Red Bull Racing 540 Edge. Its not an edge. Is it just someone started that and everyone followed.
The RedBull Racing 540 is a Slick 540 that was Designed by Glenn Dell from South Africa. It is a modified Laser 200 airfram with Extra 230 controls. At first and still today they use an AEIO 360 4 cylinder lycoming for most, but the racing community and whom ever desires, put an AEIO 540 6 cylinder 300 HP engine in which the name gets its 540 from. The originals are called Slick 360's of course due to the AEIO 360 engine with 200 HP.
Dont really care what anyone else or model companies call them, but its funny that its not correct is all.
just for fun!!!!

Zivko designed the straight wing and called it the EDGE. The fuselage and tail were designed around the wing. The 540 is the Lycoming engine model as explained. An old article out of an aviation mag indicates the name is probably twofold. 1. The straight edge of the wing and 2. Get the edge on your competition by flying this plane.
