RE: YT International ADRENALINE
I have put in some more flying since last week to try and adjust/trim the model.
The CG is now 153mm or 6 in. behind the saddle LE (from 145mm) and no deterioration in pattern precision has been detected. The plane now likes walls and tumbling even more and the harriers require almost no throttle to keep the tail down. So far so good.
Kris1, I too think that the maximum rearward CG on the instructions is not too far back afterall. However, I cannot shift the CG anymore in small steps, since moving the battery to the next available clamping location aft (the wing bolt mount), will shift the CG way beyond 165mm or 6.5in. This is a leap into the unknown. Has anybody flown aft of 6.5in and lived to share the experience??
I keep having two nagging problems and any help from you knowledgeable people would be appreciated.
First, I cannot lock onto a nice inverted flat spin -one of my favourites. With idling throttle, the plane will do it but will fall relatively rapidly. Increasing the throttle to increase spinning rate and halt altitude loss results in an out of shape hovering tumble no matter what kind of aileron deflection I give. I have not managed to find a sweet spot on opposite aileron yet (does it need it anyway for flat spins?) and I’m starting to think something else is amiss, such as too much down elevator throw (I do all spinning in 3D rates, 45-50 deg.) or again forward CG. Do those of you who get nice hovering spins care to share your set-up or stick positions (i.e. how much opposite aileron stick and elevator throw)??
Second, rolling inverted and completing half an outside loop makes the plane steer to the right (i.e. so towards its left wing). Not much rolling is involved; I have checked elevator throw alignment and its is dead on. Its is more like a yaw problem. Could this be some sort of left/right-thrust effect (rudder being in clearer air inverted so yaw more than upright, etc..)? Upright, the right thrust seems to be about right. Any useful ideas?

Why should anybody enjoy someone elses misfortune?!? I had a close call today myself, and so did practially every other person at our site in one way or another. At least yours is repairable. Was there any other damage besides the firewall? If not then it's a pretty sturdy plane if it can survive a 15-20 feet vertical drop right onto the nose. Hope the crankshaft isn't bent either.

RE: YT International ADRENALINE
How did ya do that?[X(]tom
I tested my Adrenaline today and because my engine was running with a high idle the plane did'nt want to come down slow so i harriered down on test flight and second flight.I have a Saito 100 FS and i thought it would power it but it did'nt have enough grunt to pull out of a prop hang.So im going to put a smaller prop ont it to see if it improves it but if it don't work it's down the model shop for a YS 110.

RE: YT International ADRENALINE
after flying my Adrenaline at the weekend i found that the Saito 100 did not power it enough so I have just got a YS 140 FZ for it this should pull from a torque roll easy with no problems

Tom,
Sorry to hear of your unfortunate accident with the adrenaline. Looks like it is repairable? How does the cowling look? If it is too bad to use let me know and I will sort one out for you at my expense. Cant have a young hot shot like you flying one of my planes without a nice cowling

RE: YT International ADRENALINE
thanks for the offer,
the cowl isnt broken at all, just need a new spinner and prop... lucky the motor wasnt broke. I was more annoyed I couldnt fly the rest of the day than that I had crashed it! The only damage is the firewall.
I have a video up until just before it hit the ground, just gotta put it on my website. Will get decent video hopefully next weekend!

Here are a few pics from sunday, hopefully the video will be on soon. I have seen it now, not too sure about the flying but the camara work and editing is quality! Dont think Dave got the bit about Pearl Jam either.

RE: YT International ADRENALINE
OK, reasons (excuses) for the delay in getting the vid done. Film shot Sunday. 2 days working in Jersey on Monday and Tuesday. Out on Wednesday night. But here it is. I didn't know Thomas wanted Pearl Jam, but I think it's come out ok with what it's got, and I'm glad Thomas likes it. Just whack this address into the address bar, right click and Save as:

RE: YT International ADRENALINE
thanks dave,
would be nice to know what people think of the video? I rekon I need more practice before the next freestyle champs, and I need to sort that engine out...
