Default Ex-treme 330 or U-Can-Do 46?

Hey guys im looking for a 3D plane and between a CG Ex-Treme 330 and a U-Can-Do 46. Now their both the same price and bout the same engine. Im looking for a plane that is easiest to hover. Size is somewhat an issue. Considering we own a Dodge Intreped and fitting a trainer and a super sportster is hard enough. The Ex-Treme 330 is smaller but cannot be taken apart, but if im not mistaken the U-Can-Do 3D and have the wing taken apart. Please give me your opinion.

I can't give you an opinion on the U-Can-Do, but I do have the 330 and it is simply a major 3D blast to fly. Elevators, Harriers, flat spins, flips, hovering, knife-edge. It is really a blast. I do have a Flip3D that is similar to the U-Can-Do, but I don't have near as much fun with it as with the 330. That said, I have a Saito .72 on the Flip (and the 330) and believe the airframe is underpowered. On the 330 the .72 make it a rocket.

I have an Extreme 330 and have flown several U-Can-Dos of both sizes and my vote goes with the Extreme.

This may be fixed, but guys at my field have had trouble with the UCDs breaking parts in flight. Last weekend, one UCD 46/Thunder Tiger .46 had the rudder counterbalance break off. The UCDs tend to have a lot of rudder coupling, pitch and roll. They are said to be good in hover and harrier.

The Extreme flies well with a .46, but you may need some nose weight unless you are very careful in the rear. Mount the engine well forward-or mount it last and don't use a heavy tail wheel assembly. I have mine powered by a Saito .92, which is only 3 ounces heavier than a .46 (17.5 vs. 20.5 ozs.) A .72 would probably be perfect, but I was already using my .72 on another plane.

It flies very well doing all the 3D maneuvers. It will knife edge loop, but tends to tuck or snap at the end so you have to watch it. It does a great blender, going into a climbing, inverted, flat spin.

I have both planes, the extreme 330 is a better all around 3D flyer IMHO. It's the one plane that always makes it to the field.

My friend seth just bought the UCD but has yet to fly it. I think most people are using a saito 91 or 100 on it so you might take that into consideration.

I have personally flown the cg 330, and it was a blast. The toughest plane I've ever flown. It survived a mid-air with a fun 51 and a flatspin into the ground with no repairs needed...except for bending the landing gear back to normal and it broke the muffler off the engine. Definately doesn't like speed. I would go with the extreme, but then again, I wreck a lot

Impulse, If you are considering a profile 3-D airplane you need to look real hard at the new Extreme Flight Edge 540T. It is the best constructed ARF that I have assembled to date. It is an excellent 3-D airplane and has received very positive feedback here on this site. $149.99 at its worth every penny. You should have no problem putting it into the back seat of your car.

I just bought mine for $149.99 and thats what they are advertised for on their site.

I just thought why you may be confused. I am not refering to the Edge 540 that Goldberg is distributing. The airplane I am recommending is marketed by Extreme Flight R/C. In my opinion it is a much better quality product. Click onto their web site and you can see it.

I had both and my vote goes to the CG Extreme 330. I also bought the Extreme 540 but it sucks!!!! I built a OMP 540 and love it also. If I had my druthers I would go for the ExtremeFlight 540 as suggested by CCRC1!
I had the YS-53 on my 330 and it was a great hoverer. With the YS-63 they are ballistic(any of them!)

I would say the Irvine-53 or YS-63/ Saito-72 for the 330-

Deputy Dog: I didn't know you flew off the Scripps Poway Pkwy. road- My brother sold his Cermark Pitts (Red) to a guy who flies there... I have also flown there but the curbs are NOT my friends!

If you ever want to come to Weedwackers lemme know!

If you go over to the profile forum there is an assembly thread on this airplane where you can get some feedback from others who have the Extreme Flight Edge. The Quality and Craftmanship for a production airplane is as good as it gets. For almost $40.00 less you get a much better airplane than from Goldberg. I have already ordered a second one to have as a backup. I am using a .72 Saito (14x4 prop) on mine and it has plenty of power.

I just answered you in the other thread
The battery and RX mount in the wing in a tray already installed for them. It is a very neat setup. Translate AIM for me, dunno if I have it cause I don't no what you are refering to.

OK, I don't feel so stupid now. I thought AIM was something R/C related. No I don't have it I'm sorry. I think the .60 is to much for this airplane. Its a very light airplane and a .60 on the nose is a bit heavy. A .46 or .50 would be plenty of power for 3-D. I would still look hard at the Irvine .53, its a real powerhouse 2 stroke. Of the two you listed I would choose the .50 for this particular airplane. Mine has an all up finished weight of 4pds 5.5 oz. with a Saito .72

SIG is the U.S. importer and you can buy direct from them. The .50 SX should be plenty of power if you have a line on one at a good price.

Hey this is Mike. Is there anyone out there that can help me find fiberglass landing gear for the Extreme 330. I landed bad twice with the factory stuff and its all bent up. When you bend it too much it will fracture or break. So let me konw. Thanks

Hey Swazzi, been a long time what's new...

As those gear goes, you can go to Home Depot and pick up some 1/8" x 1" x 36" aluminum stock. You definately don't want that gear to be hard, you want it to flex to absorbe some of the shock. So does this mean you're touching the ground like 3d_nut over here. He's always bending that landing gear. You should come fly with us some weekend, like old times. I'd love to see what you can do now. We really getting into 3D now, you should check out some of the videos of 3d_nut being attacked by our 3D foam planes. The videos are here: [link=http://www.flyingthingz.com]www.flyingthingz.com[/link]

Drop us an email and leave your number so we can get in touch and work something out for one weekend of all out 3D; don't be a stranger....

Talk to you soon

Swazzi, do a search for krazy legs landing gear. They are awesome, I have them on several profiles, including the Extreme 330, and have never had a pair break. They flex and return to shape every time.
