RE: Twist 3d building/flight report
today was a great day to fly!! my twist survied some rough landings[X(] first flight landing was a dead stick, greased the landing,
getting good on dead sticks, one bobo though bent the landing gear[X(], not bad for a maiden flight!!
keepem flying

RE: Twist 3d building/flight report
the other weekend i crashed....i was doin an inverted harrier about 15 feet off the end of the runway where the grass (aka dirt) is and my radio glitched...[:@]....i need to replace my vertical stabilizer....i will probably just glue it on where it broke off inside and glue supports on the sides. then i need to replace the hinges. its not that bad actually....i fear the engine cleaning [:'(]

Sorry to hear about the crash
Did you see we were trying to break your record of the number of Twists at the field at one time!?

Twist + new blade 12.5 x 3.75 = lift off nice and clean / loss of power at 40 feet with impact at angle = broken twist...[X(]
News and pictures at 11.
Lefty
Yes I broke it...actually in half at the cockpit, only thing holding it together was the antenna tube and the wires to the elevator and rudder...

Verticle climb...and I don't know why it stopped, The engine and plane were fine, first time on the new prop and I had an assistant hand launch..it went up very nice, then just stopped and landed at an angle...I will be posting some pictures...
and yes I am rebuilding...It's surprising what a little thin CA can do.[8D]

Ahhh yes... and last night I pulled the monokote back and started gluing with CA. I have it back together minus a couple of strength enhancers and re-applying the monokote..I will post more pictures tomorrow...

Lefty,
I crashed my twist doing High Alpha KE 4 feet off the deck. It broke almost exactly like yours. At first I thought the fuse was a loss but I just took it one piece at a time. It ended up going back together quite well. Now its once again flying great!

Yup,
I actually put the fuse back together last night...all I have to do is make it a little stonger in a couple of places and re-cover it.

RE: Twist 3d building/flight report
It's official as of yesterday afternoon, I'm a Twist head.
Put it together in about 8 hours and used low throws and it was real touchy so I came down a little on the ailerons. Only needed 3 clicks on the ailerons and it was flying hands off. I put the OS all the way forward on the mounts and have a Dubro 3 ounce brass chrome spinner and a 2500NiMH on top of the fuel tank up front. Using the Sullivan tail bracket in the rear.
I'm around 4.25 on the CG.
I'm using an OS46FX w/ a tower hobbies muffler spinning a 12X4 prop (12.25X3.75 in the mail) and running 20/20 cool power.
The plane is very fast and has unlimited vertical.
It was very windy yesterday in Allaire, NJ (JCRC Club) and I had the as usual maiden flight nervousness but after the initial 2 flights I was fine. Not as confident as I will be in the future.
I can fit the twist in my Ford Focus wagon sideways with the wing on.

ps The wing came damaged and Horizon sent me a new one and did'nt ask for the old one back.
