Powering a Twist
I think the best way to power the twist and keep it light would be one of the high performance .50ish two strokes. Could anyone reccomend one of these engines: o.s. sx 50, enya 50cx, kb screamin 48 or any others? Thanks

RE: Powering a Twist
.46 fx with tower muffler hovers it at a little more than half throttle, but I had to put 6 or so oz of lead in the nose to balance it. My vote would actually go toward a .91 four stroke if you could fit it between the cheeks.

Well I have an Irvine .53 and it sure starts first or second flick, great on 10% or 5%, I've heard only good things about a West .50 as well.

RE: Powering a Twist
My Twist goes straight up with a Thunder Tiger .46 Pro. The only drawback is I had to add a bunch of weight to the nose to get it to balance out in the proper range. If I chose a different engine I would pick something that will allow it to balance without the added weight and have the benefit of added power. A .61 two-stroke might be nice if it would fit in the tight nose of this plane. I have considered a Webra .61 but the real problem would be getting the engine mount to fit in the limited space which probably makes a four-stroke an easier fit. The problem is this plane really doesn't need the extra power. I detected a small amount of flutter on mine when I opened it up. The culprit may be the stock pushrods which are a bit too flexible. Be sure if you overpower this plane that you are using it for vertical ability and not to go screaming across the sky. Losing your elevator to flutter would surely cut the day short in a bad way!

Magnum .52xls. 2 stroke. It will hover at 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. I have a Tower muffler on it. Balence is at 5" back. AUW is 5lbs. I am really having a great time with this plane. Perfect combo and the price is right. I will try to get some video this week.

RE: Powering a Twist
I have a Saito 72 on mine. The throttle hookup was no problem. Just a 90 degree bend over and into the throttle arm. I originally had the Funtana with the same engine. I was doing more with the Twist on the first day than I could do with the Funtana after a week. The first thing I tried was in inverted flatspin. I was happy with just stopping the descent of the IFS but then stunned when it turned into a climbing IFS.
