Default Powering a Twist

I think the best way to power the twist and keep it light would be one of the high performance .50ish two strokes. Could anyone reccomend one of these engines: o.s. sx 50, enya 50cx, kb screamin 48 or any others? Thanks

.46 fx with tower muffler hovers it at a little more than half throttle, but I had to put 6 or so oz of lead in the nose to balance it. My vote would actually go toward a .91 four stroke if you could fit it between the cheeks.

Well I have an Irvine .53 and it sure starts first or second flick,great on 10% or 5%, I've heard only good things about a West .50 as well.

70 O.S. 4-stroke just fits and has PLENTY of power. Balances perfectly also. Mine will hover at about 1/3 throttle.(not that I am very good at it)

It is not a heavy plane. You can use what you want, but any of the ball bearing .46s will be more than adequate.

A 4-stroke will take some work to hook up the throttle.

My Twist goes straight up with a Thunder Tiger .46 Pro. The only drawback is I had to add a bunch of weight to the nose to get it to balance out in the proper range. If I chose a different engine I would pick something that will allow it to balance without the added weight and have the benefit of added power. A .61 two-stroke might be nice if it would fit in the tight nose of this plane. I have considered a Webra .61 but the real problem would be getting the engine mount to fit in the limited space which probably makes a four-stroke an easier fit. The problem is this plane really doesn't need the extra power. I detected a small amount of flutter on mine when I opened it up. The culprit may be the stock pushrods which are a bit too flexible. Be sure if you overpower this plane that you are using it for vertical ability and not to go screaming across the sky. Losing your elevator to flutter would surely cut the day short in a bad way!

Magnum .52xls. 2 stroke. It will hover at 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. I have a Tower muffler on it. Balence is at 5" back. AUW is 5lbs. I am really having a great time with this plane. Perfect combo and the price is right. I will try to get some video this week.

I have a Saito 72 on mine. The throttle hookup was no problem. Just a 90 degree bend over and into the throttle arm. I originally had the Funtana with the same engine. I was doing more with the Twist on the first day than I could do with the Funtana after a week. The first thing I tried was in inverted flatspin. I was happy with just stopping the descent of the IFS but then stunned when it turned into a climbing IFS.

Saito 82 is probably a good choice for this plane. Same case as the Saito .72 but lighter since it is a bored out 72

20% more power than the 72. Just right to twist

i just got my saito 82 it today and put in the engine and flew it in by field in themy back yard great performance with that 82 Saito runs perfectly like my other saitos i have to say it does 3D like my fomie much easier than my funtana.
