John,
Thanks for the upload. I dont have a scale that is accurate. My buddy has an postal scale that is calibrated, hopefully we will wiegh it tomorrow night.
The one thing that suprised me was the balance. without the spinner cone (i forgot to buy the adaptor for the saito) the plane balance .5" tailheavy with the battery mounted by the wing tube. I should be very close with the spinner on.
I have futaba 148's on elevator and ailerons, if that is not enough I will change them to 9252. If I can get away with 148's I want to use them.
The lateral balance was perfect. I have the battery mounted on the opposite side of the engine head.
In 10 hours I will fly it.

Quist, was it very difficult to get the Futaba servos to work? I noticed that H9 predrilled the servo screw holes. I haven't got to bring mine home to check out the sizing. Thanks!

The servo cutouts were to small for futaba. I made It longer on one side to make it fit. This allowed me to use 2 of there holes and drill 2 new ones were I elongated the hole.
I flew the plane 2 flights today. I was very tail heavy I had to drive it down hard to land. The saito is enough to torque roll at about 60-70% throttle, it transitioned to vertical very nice. It was not snappy. I did a flew walls and parachutes with very good results, once again it did not want to snap out. I also tried some waterfalls and they were very straight with a good tail whip.
We I put the spinner on it will help the balance a little but I think I like it were it is. I may just add a landing condition with some down elevator trim.
The plane does a very nice snap roll.

The Hitec 5245 should work very well for the elevator halves. I'm going to use them on my Funtana 90. I'm also building an Exclusiv Modellbau 2-meter Funtana Pro. The plans specify the Hitec 5245 servos in each elevator half...and it's a much larger plane.

YES they are too small. I have new servos in the mail and I did not want to wait for them. I only had 20 degrees of throw so it worked fine. Mechanical advantage in the linkage allows you to get away with the weaker servo. The plane will have all 9252's when they arrive.
I got it on my buddies scale and it wieghed 8lb 5 oz. If I do some equipment swaping and a battery change I believe 8lb is possible.
Jason Shulman was flying after I had packed it up. I would have liked to have him take it for a spin.

I used 5475 and a 5975 and they all fit, a little tight but they fit. The only servo hole that was tight was the throttle space, I had to shave some wood to fit a standard servo. quist do you have a pic of your muffler installation, I'm not happy with how mine is turning out. The way it's set up now I will have to put an extension on the end

rc_sport-RCU,
I have a Saito 100 in mine and the straight muffler manifold would cause the muffler to still be inside the cowl or it would need to be turned out the side. Saito makes an angled muffler manifold, part number SAI8075A. Mount the manifold angeled to the front of the plane and the muffler will be pointing downward. We might still need a rubber deflector, but I'll see tomorrow when my angled manifold arrives. I should have mine flying Thursday.

The real compairson will be between the Extreme Flight YAK 54 and the Funtana 90. These seem to be the top performers in this niche of the market.

Would Futaba S3010 Standard High-Torque Servo's be good enough for this plane?

Someone get a vid of harriers and KE, please. I was never 100% happy with either on the 40 size. KE tok tons pof power, and full rudder. Harriers rocked pretty bad upright and inverted.
Also, is the elevator a double, or single, bevel?

Elevator is single beveled. I glued mine together fairly tight, no gap between the stab and elevator. By doing that I only get about 42-43 degrees throw before the elevator stops due to lack of clearance. If I were to do it again, and just may do that, I would leave a small gap so that I could get the desired throw. Then seal the gap with clear covering.
Hindsight is 20-20.

Hi All, New Member here!
I just picked - up my Funtana 90 yesterday, and ordered 4 x Hitec 5475s for aileron and elevator, and a 5975 for rudder. My question is about the prop size for my OS120 (un-pumped). Should I go for a large diameter / small pitch APC 'wide' for thrust? What would you, or any other 120 owners recommend for size? I guess I need a size that will bring the engine to peak-power rpm while hovering.
