RE: Funtana 90's are in
Just finishing mine this weekend. Saito 120 with JR 5625's and 5645 on rudder, adding Sullivan SkyWriter Electric smoke system plus small tank (little more weight) and Pitts Muffler, haven't balancend yet, but planing on keeping it pretty true to CG. I really reinforsed the front and gear area with 2ton epoxy and fiberglass. Added a stronger tail piece and sure my weight is going over budget, thus the 120 Saito for that little extra boost.
I had some damage to the frame when I received it (broken and missing ply support) made a patch repair, other than that, looks like a great kit...
Would like to see some photos of others interiors for mounting and wiring ideas...
thanks C-N-C

I'm using HS-625MGs on ailerons and elevators(94oz/.15sec), and a 5625 on the rudder(130oz/.14), and a standard on throttle. Haven't decided on batteries yet, I may go li-ion or just put a large 1800 NiMh pack in it if it needs some extra nose weight.

You bet. Saito 100 with a ACP 17X4w on the frontThe only mod I made was to the L/G mount. I put a piece of 5/32 plywood across the fuselage side frames directly above the two blind nuts for the gear bolts and then drilled through the plate I installed by drilling through the blind nuts without damageing the threads, I then installed longer cap screws and installed a lock nut just snuged down to the added plate. For me it seems to be working fine, you should see my arivals and I have had no problems with the gear. I almost forgot, take the tail wheel and throw it away and put a Patrick or Ohio small tail wheel asy. The one that comes with the kit is worthless. Other than that, seal the control surfaces fly the A/C slow and it will do anything you want it to do. It is not a fast A/C. Then you wont wright a letter saying the Ailerons or Elevators broke off, or the wing blew apart as I coming out of a full power dive with my super suprem 1.80 40% nitro powerd engine at full throttle, gee whis why did it do that? You will have a good time with it.

I am looking for a CF wing tube for the Funtana in an effort to save weight. Does anyone have a link to a dealer that stocks them?
I already have CF landing gear from supergear, the YS1.10, I'll be scrapping the wheel pants, purchasing lighter wheels, and using hi-torque mini's for the elevators. Anyone else putting their Funtana on a diet. I know it's already light, but I am at 6200 feet here in Colorado Springs and the air here is really thin. I am hoping for under 8 lbs dry...

Try Dave brown foam or Great Planes foam wheels I use there 3'' I fly on grass working on all my planes. Take the wheel pants off your trying to get it lighter right? CF wing tube can be purchased at Gator RC Let me know how the mini servos work on the elevators? I had a set installed (Hitec mini digitals) and I got chicken to fly with them afraid they would strip out. Now I am using there standard digitals installed and working fine.

I am not sure my plane is outside in cold storage . I do know that they are pricey. Sorry Gator RC only Carry's aluminum. I tell you I switched the motor mount to a Dave Brown fiber and installed smaller screws and blind nuts And I want to say I saved 3 to 4 OZ doing it. The stock Motor mount and screw are way overkill. PS had to glass the engine box due to weak glue joints when I was in there.

I ordered a 1.25" CF tube from Troy built today. He now has them pre-cut at, (I think this is what he said), 24.5" for the FUNTANA90.
Eric.

What is the diameter of the wing tube? My funtana hasn't arrived yet, but it looks like about a 1" tube. I believe the gators are 7/8" and Troy built models has one for the Funtana 90 but it is a 1.25" tube. I don't thing it is for the hangar 9 Funtana.

The CF tube came today and was fitted to my H-9 Funtana this evening. It was the perfect length and what a beautiful fit. It only saved me 1.32 oz, but it all helps in the attempt to reach the moon :-)

Finished my Funtana S90 on Friday and maidened her on Saturday afternoon, what a plane. Thunder Tiger 120 2 stroke ring with Weston UK Genesis Pipe running 10% Morgan fuel. 4800ft above sea level, hovers between quarter to half throttle, enormous vertical capability, running out of sight. Sure is a combo that works. Must say it came out a bit nose heavy but after a mod or two balance straight and level with empty tank.
