RE: YS CLUB
Hey Bud,
How's it going? Been busy with this one, like your Extra Fun, no nitro . Wound up getting a NIB 110, now I need to find an airframe for it after we move, anyone got any ideas?

Hey Brian, the edge looks great. Will it be in the air before the big move? Better hurry or you'll miss the snow storm. Might as well kiss those palm trees goodbye, along with year round flying.
The only thing I could think of is the Mayhem, although the 110 is pretty versatile. I think there are a lot of good choices out there. Joe

Yo Joe,
We are shooting for Saturday or Sunday it all depends on the weather. That nasty stuff that is coming towards you is supposed to be here over the weekend. The tempurature is supposed to moderate, but we don't know about the wind yet. As our runway runs east to west a hard north crosswind is not a good thing. If we get her up I'll post a couple of pics. Never thought about a Mayhem and that may be a better choice than UCD. Maybe Barry will chime in as he's flown one with the 110 and we'll know where the balance has to be. Season's greetings bud, looks like we'll be up in the northland sometime in March. B....

Just got a YS110 and tried to mount an APC 17x4 prop. The prop hub is to big for the thrust washer on the engine. I see Central Hobbies has a larger thrust washer for the 120, any ideas on how to cure this problem on the 110?

To clarify, its the "drive washer" in back of the prop thats to small in diameter for the apc 17x4 prop. Do you think the larger washer from Central Hobbies would fit the 110 engine? Guess I could call them.
A spinner may indeed be the best bet. Thx for the advice.

I would think that a 19/8 would be the next choice. An 18/8 would work, but would need to keep those R's in check.
We are getting a needed break in the weather here and are looking at a full week of above freezing weather. Hopefully it will be enough to clear up the field, as I haven't gotten around to even ordering skis yet. This YS is like a Husky, it loves the cold.
Happy Holidays to all and wish you a safe and enjoyable 2006 flying season. Joe

I just got a 1.40FZ and I'm trying to decide on a plane to put the engine. What weight 3D plane will this engine handle well? It doesn't have to be a rocket but I would like it to have good power for what ever plane I put it in.

RE: YS CLUB
Could anyone tell me how a YS 63 would compare on a twist to a saito 82 on the same plane. now i have a OS 52 on the twist and it does ok but just barely capable of pulling out of a hover. it seems to me the YS 63 won't be enough of an increase in thrust.

the ys 63 is very comparable to the 82. the 82 is slightly better in my opinion. the 63 has more power though then you would expect do to its constant pressurized fuel delivery system and psuedo fuel injection. its a true beast of an engine. We have a 63 with a twist at my club and the first flight just caused a laugh and a smile on the pilot.

RE: YS CLUB
Chris, I don't own a 63, but do have a 91.AC and a 110.FZ and you will find that the power to weight offered with YS can not be beat. A pressurized system has a lot of benefits on something the size of a twist as you can place the tank on or near the CG. Autoguns gives good advice and won't steer you wrong. Good luck with it. Joe

Yo Joe,
What's up with the name change Bud, too much mercury or "zines" in the H2O ? We'll know what's up later this afternoon up north, home inspection and Radon tests results. B....

RE: YS CLUB
The props I use on the Twist range from the APC 13x4w to 14x4w depending on the altitude I am flying at . I use Byron's YS20/20 fuel in every glow plane I have...I think you will be very happy with the 63, I love mine....JW

RE: YS CLUB
What weight plane will a 1.40sport perform well on?
I'm planning to use this plane for general aerobatics and mild 3D flying. The plane doesn't have to have unlimited vertical but I want the engine to have enough power to be able to fly the plane nicely.
