Hello All,
I just bought my first YS a couple weeks ago a 1.40 put it in a cap 232 1.20. I was so impressed with the engine.... on the ground (weather to nasty to fly) I bought a .63 for my new ultra rc (cmpro) Katana 50. My question what would be prop range for the .63 on the katana for areobatics and Light 3-D (still learning) Running 30% fuel

Pending on my mood and how I want to fly I use a 13x4W APC for 3d and a 13x6 for the rest ...I have used a 14x4W as well....Play around with the props in 12" to 14" range until you find the one you like best...JW

Pardon my jumping in. Will the 63 spool up with the 14 X 4W? I'm trying to decide whether to put my YS 63 or Saito 82 in my 46 Harrier. Saito 82 with the 14 X 4W spools pretty good. That YS 63 is just sitting there dying to fly something though.

I just got a 2M pattern plane with a 140DZ. The motor is mounted with a Budd mount with nose ring and APC 16-11 prop. What is the break in procedure for this motor and should I be using a different prop? I'm running DZ blend from central hobbies. Can I use CF props?

Hey YS fans,
I need some help, YS140 Sport, Wildcat YS 20/20 fuel, it's in a Funtana. I have a 17x6W APC on it. I runs fine on the ground lots of power and quick spool up, lots of smoke too. I get in the air and it dosen't feel like it's performing the same??? What do you all think??

Also Has anybody body put a smoke system in using the pressurized system to pump the smoke as well as as the fuel or is that a big no I was thinking if I put a tee in line of the pressure side I could pump the fuel and the smoke at the same time im still using the same 140 i just got and want to know if that works or do I have to drill to holes in the exhaust and pressurize the tank that way

Could be many things, fuel system, needle settings including regulator...but usually things stay pretty consistent when you get the needles close to where they need to be.
First of all, for me the 17x6 was significantly underpropping the engine. It could easily over-rev with it, and with the needles set rich enough to prevent over-revving, it wouldn't run right, because no YS likes to be very rich, just a little off the top is good. So you might try a 18x6, or a 17x8, reset your needles, looking for 9000rpm. and try again.
You might also try removing your cowl, set your needles and try a flight to see if cooling could be an issue once it unloads in the air. Beyond that I would dig in and check entire fuel system, clean regulator, tappet clearance, glo plug....etc
I also don't know what your altitude there is, but you might want to try some Cool Power 30% Heli. You won't go back.

the reg screw starts out flush with the housing, a little in or out from there is normal. The screw is there to be adjusted I would disassemble your regulator and clean it with alcohol, reassemble, screw flush with housing, put in a new plug, run and reset needles. See what happens. I know the buddies around my club would think the same thing of a 1.40 and the 18x6. they are used to hearing the 1.20s scream around on 17x6s at 9600rpm...they sound more powerful. thing is, these like 9000rpm. There are guys using Carbon 19x6s with good success.

The dimensions for all tanks are printed on each box....call Central hobbies, they have been very good to me in the past and picked up a box for me to get these same answers over the phone for the different sizes of tettra tanks.

The Morris Hobbies Big Boy that I'm putting together comes with a 15oz tank that seems very sturdy and I may try it. I get a little nervous with ARF supplied tanks with the extra pressure from a YS.
