Default Winter Projects

Hi all,

It has been pretty quiet around here so I figured we have to start something new.

So what is everyone building this winter. I have 2 splendors going a E-Quique yak and a few hundred shockflyers.

Yea I know Sam,
I just figured I start this because yesterday was a fall day hard blowing winds and very cold. I know it is right around the corner. I guess it must be nice to be out flying like everyone is doing now and we in MI are sitting in our house all cold and bundled up.

Well I'm finishing up the Panacea with Smaragd wings, stab and rudder, yes broke fuse but everything else was ok, will start a CA Eclipse after that and maybe a CA Epsilon 90 for a fun, bad weather, winter plane. Other things I have going is filling cracks in runway at field and then sealcoting.

Hey Andy, Whats goin on? Youre right about the cold. Kinda sucks for me cuz im lifeguarding this summer.
What power system you planning for the yak? My buddy, Bill Klingbeil, just finished his a few days ago.
Im hoping to be putting together an EF 68" yak, or Quique's if I like flying Bill's. We're getting ready for the winter flying season dow at Springfield too. Shockflyers, Blades , a Blitz or two. Should be lotsa fun this year.
You should try to make it to the next meeting. I'll let ya fly me tensor wannabe. Cya , Jeff

Jeff,

Your Tensor look alike looks good. My Yak I will be powering it with a Hacker C50-13XL with a 20x11 prop and Apogee 9s 3p pack. Do you know when they start flying at spring field. I am looking forward to that. It should be really fun.

Sam,

Yes. Theres a few reasons why I am not completely looking forward to it. Namely:

McConville
Leyland
Noll
Koelling
Berninger
Hubbard
Mcguire

I could go on and on..

Geffon,

You will do great. Just practice till you cant practice any more then go to the contest and do some damage Go show em how its done. I hope to hit a few IMAC's next year. I will be at this one this weekend coming up. Who will all be there in Unlimited?

Andrew,

I am not sure who will be there this weekend. I am going to be at Leylands party.
You should bag the IMAC this weekend and come hang out with us.

Wayne,

I wont be able to go to Leylands party because on Sunday I have a fly in for the humain society and I want to fly there to try and raise money for them. So Saturday I am just going to call for Dewey at the Contest. I hope you all have fun there.

Hi Andrew,

I'm going to try to finish my 30% Ultimate, even though we just bought a new house.

I'd like to hit a couple of IMAC contests next year. The pattern guys have been kicking my can! I've had a few good rounds, but as soon as I make a mistake the rest of the flight goes to heck. The two contest that I have competed in have taught me a few things, and most of the pilots have been more than helpful.

I'm moving this weekend so practice is out for the Midwest contest, but I'm going to compete in it anyway. A little thing like lack of practice won't keep me from flying.

See ya,

Ken Thompson
RCCD

Let me know if Mike got you that CD I burned for you. I'll try to get better film next time.

For choosing I would look at what you want to do with it. If you want to just go out on a nice calm night and mess around hovering flat spins and such I would get the Funky 40. If you are into a little more precision flying but still want to have fun go with either the wide body line or the epsilon planes for the 60 sized and last if you want a more scale plane pick anyone of there extra's and you will not be able to go wrong with any of these planes.

They build very easy. My friend Dewey framed a plane up in less then a week. He said it was like a big jigsaw puzzle.

Raptor,

Im broke after the panacea build as well. Mine is going good I have to get graphics for it and then just set it up on my radio. I am having a hard time trying to find time to do this with school starting and practicing for the Don Lowe Masters.

I do still pay for my airplanes and things. It would be cool if you could come to the Nats next year with your panacea done and win your class.

Boogie,

Sounds good on the 60 size pattern plane. As for suggestions all I can think of are Shockflyer many many Shockflyer. That is my motto for this winter.

Sorry for not replying sooner but just got back from Las Vegas this morning. Still running kinda slow. You guys might have 2 months left of flying but its around 40 degrees here. I will be out in tuscon for some warm flying but after that I think its about all done.
