Default Funtana 40 & YS-63S

Does any of you have this combo?. I heard that the center of gravity is back and you have to install all the servos forward.

No you do not have to install all the servos forward. I have that combo and just tie wrap the battery to the front former. I use a Tru Turn ultimate style spinner and APC 13-4W prop so that gives me some nose weight.

I heard about someone at my club who had to put all servos forward, even the rudder one, so I wasn't sure. BTW, do you think that futaba 3001 servos will be enough for this combo?.

Thank you.

They will work for a while but will strip out eventually. The Funtana set at 3D rates will shred those servos. I'd go with something around 80 ounces or more. I used 475HB in the ailerons and 635HB in the tail. It will "fly" with standard servos, but if you max out the throws and do high G aerobatics (blenders, walls, parachutes), you will need some serious torque. Also use a 6 volts battery for extra torque and speed.

I have been flying mine with standard Futaba 3003s on Ruder and aileron. And Futaba 3001 on Elevator. I have had this setup for about a year now and have never had a problem. better servos are not a bad idea but they will also add weight to the tail and you may end up needing to either move them forward or add weight to the nose. i'm not saying this is a bad thing, but just something to think about. IMO I would do 3004s at the VERY LEAST, but these are working good for me right now so i'm not going to bother with it at the moment. if i could to fork up the cash to upgrade i would in a heart beat!! just letting you know that standard servos will work.

FYI: i am on a 4.8v system and am not flying it as a sport plane, but as a 3d plane.

i'm sorry, but i have a Hitec high torque on the rudder. i forgot that i changed that in hopes of improving KE.

And now that i think about it. i do notice my servos getting weaker. so i would say they might be getting ready to take a dump. bigger servos would be good.[8D]

I'm thinking about this combo, what about using a Master Airscrew K-Series 13x6 on it? I have a couple 3004's laying around, would the be good enough for the ailerons? Probably go with a Hitec 635 on rudder and 425 on elevator.

Do you use a fuel dot or how do you fill the airplane with fuel?

So, that's how you let the pressure/fuel in and out with a YS system?

Here is mine about a year old now Ys 63 still running strong. APC 13-4 W working fine. Powermaster 20% If you get a chance to see Kyle video flying his in the snow taken last year you will like it as I did. Great rolling harriers Steve

Yes, first take off the top fuel dot to relieve tank pressure. Then take off the bottom one to fill. I always put a little overflow tank on the vent one to catch the overflow (Sullivan filler tank). Works great. There is a diagram how to plumb the fuel and vent side somewhere in this form. It's basically a T on each line. There is a check valve on the branch going to the engine vent. There is a filter on the branch going to the engine fuel inlet. The exhaust pressure tap is plugged (not used).

I put the vent fuel dot on top since the tank fitting is on top. It's easy to remember that way. No color coding needed. I got this system from someone else on this forum (RichardL ?).
