Default Chip Hyde's Vision 3D

I have ordered my Vision 3D. It should be here at the first of next week, along with a DA 50. Can anyone give me a flight report? How is it?

What engine, setup, etc?

I am using a DA 50 and Futaba 3305 metal gear servos.

Where did you order yours from?

I have a BME 50 with a ZDZ pipe. Servos--I have 4, 9152's. 2 will go in the wing for sure.

I ordered it from Chip.

I saw it at Joe Nall, I did not see to fly it, nor need to see it fly. Just from the look of the bird and the size of the control surfaces, I knew I had to own one. I tried to buy the one Chip had.

Chip was at our field here in Oklahoma with a Vision and A Double vision. Unfortunately, i was unable to make it out to watch him fly. I like the look, however and trust that Chip has made a good plane.

Dude! that is a big plane and look at all that side area! How does the covering look? Is it that cheap china-kote stuff or something quality like ultra cote? I'd think for the money it should be covered in gold. Chief has an interesting deal on the plane engine and pipe combo.

The covering looks good right now, I don't know what china kote looks like but I guess I'll find out when I start flying it

Had my Vision for a few weeks nearly complete, fitting a DA50. No instructions but a fairly straight forward assembly job. Fit and alignment are accurate. Try 3" stand offs should give a good position for the cowl and Cof G just back of the wing tube. These are references given by Pro Build in the UK who are the distributors. They have built and test flown this set up. More details if you have questions.

H are you going to use two servos on the tail for the ruder, or are you going to install the servo in the servo tray with the cable set up on the ruder

I tried the web site but the "Manual" part does not open up anything. This topic/forum is my lifeline - keep it coming guys and thank you.

Eric.

The build looks pretty straight forward ,But I would like some refference to the engine mounting, Today I got an e-mail from servo city; My servos are on backorder so all I can do is wait.

I am using single JR8511 in the tray, closed loop. Rated 15kg should be fine. I also used the engine template downloaded from the Double Vision manual as a guide, allowed for longer stand offs for the offset.

I just received both the DV and the V in the last two days and both planes look great. I am particularly impressed with the paint on the cowl and wheel pants. First class!! Not sure which to start first as at the time I only have the one motor, but will be rectifying that soon. I am leaning towards the V right know. I to didn’t get instructions but not much to it. The way it looks, it shouldn’t take but a few evenings to put together, the motor and pip setup being the only question mark. My DV is getting Futaba 9402’s all around and the V was going to get 9252’s. Both will be getting the only motor either of these planes should ever see. The DA 50. Have the servos and will start installing them this week. Would love to fly one of them this weekend, I have all the parts so it’s possible. We will see.
I will post some pictures of both planes as I start the process.

I just went to the site and this time the manual printed out just fine. It's about 30 pages.

Regards,

Eric.

The covering is like China Kote (I would imagine). I had this on my Cap-X and it is awful. There is no glue on the stuff. Be prepared to CA it down..

I can't believe there are CA hinges on this thing...Seems like an awfully large plane for CA hinges...don'tcha think?
