RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?
Hooray for me, four replies in a row!
Anyway, the wind dies down late this afternoon, so I threw the 330 back in the truck and headed back to the field. Had the tank patched up.
Runs great now. It will accelerate vertically out of sight with the st75 running right. Hovers just under 1/2 throttle. This might be the best flying plane I've ever had. I flew about 15 minutes for the first flight of the afternoon, most of it about 20-40 feet off the ground doing some of the nicest looking pattern aerobatics and circuits I've done in a while. Snap rolls are violent and fast. Love this little airplane. Huge difference in how it flies when the wind was down to 5-10 this afternoon. Used a little less than 1/2 of the fuel in the tank during the 15 minute flight, so it's very economical. Attached pic is how much fuel was left after 15 minutes in the air.

can anyone please let me know what will be the performance of this aircraft onYS63? I have one laying around. Also if I were to pick a brand new engine which of these three would be better choice: OS 91 FS, OS 91 FS pump, Saito 82.
Thanks

Not trying to troll your post but:
saito 82 is just a tiny bit more powerful than ys63 and if I'm not mistaken they are pretty much the same weight. Depending by your flying style you might find this setup laking in power.
OS 91 - too heavy vs power , otherwise reliable engines. I personally would go with ys63 if you already have it. Try to keep it light.
So the winner is :
SAITO 100
Just my opinion and is got the value of an opinion.

Little video of the second or third flight, unfortunately the camera batteries died so didn't get much footage. The takeoff was only about 1/2 to 2/3 throttle because this was when I was having issues with the fuel tank (the hole I drilled in it accidentally) and if I went full throttle it would die. Plenty of power with the 2 stroke .75.

I would like to know where do you measure CG from? The manual doesnt clearify. Is it from LE going back to TE at root? I have installed 2 servos at the tail and even with battery placed under the engine, its still tail heavy. I woulf like to know what is the best CG for 3D.
Thanks

I have the sevos in the tail too but I have an os 91 fs in the front. But im still nose heavy with my battery 3 inches behind the sevo tray and 3/4 of an ounce in the tail. I am probably really far off from the recommended cg but that is where it flies right

I set up hi rate for as much as I could get on all surfaces with 60% expo. For low rate I set the switch to 40% of high rate and mixed in about 40% expo. I never measured the deflections but it flies great.

RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?
Great to see urs is doing well Huminski. And thanks all for the tips and kind words on my crash. I waited until now for hobby lobby to get another one in stock, since they had a killer deal for 170 shipped. I just got my Spektrum back from the company with a new reciever, built a 6v batt pack, and fixed up my saito 100. Back in business.
I now have all the info and experience to build this plane even better the second time. Imma scrap the stock wheels and make a better hatch latch. and beef up the firewall again with some tri. Maybe even a 2 servo elevator setup in the rear... The plane flew so dam well I knew i was going to get another one once i went to the crash and saw a pile of balsa toothpicks. (Look for my post a little above). Anybody have any tips on the spektrum? Do's and donts?

New video of my 330. Nothing too crazy, flies good now that the motor is running at 100% and broken in. Plane does great knife edge and inverted flight, and snaps are quite voilent as seen toward the end of the clip.

Guys,
Yesterday I flown my Flinton Extra 330s for the first time. Let me tell you something, this is the best prop plane that I have flow in years.... Absolute delight to fly. I am using OS 75 AX with 14x6 APX prop and I am getting unlimited vertical. This aircraft flies as if on rails!!! virtually no mixing of any sort.
I have done 3 flights so far..... more flights tomorrow!!!!

RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?
I want to try a 14X6 on my St .75. I've used a 13X6 APC and a 14X4W APC so far, both about the same performance, a tiny bit better vertical with the 4W and better speed with the 13X6, of course. I stuck with the 13X6, I do more pattern and regular flying than 3D right now. I ran a 14X6 on a st .90 I used to have so I thought it would be a little to much for the .75 but maybe not.

RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?
Saito 100, 15x4 wide, Perry VP30, Hitech duals on elevator..
Thumbs up on this bird, flys awesome...
Was a pain to get it setup right and expensive....dual elevator servos, pump, tank, the hatch. I lost the tank on the first flight because I did not build a beefy enough support plate under the hatch area. This is fixed. Magnetic hatch seems to be holding up to snap rolls. Perry Pump VP30 was and is a major PIA, I got it tuned well after I installed a skinnier fuel line to the carb but it loads up and hydros after flights because of the pressure that remains in the line. Looking back, I'd get an IronBay regulator for it instead.

RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?
I have bought Fliton Extra 330S. It is powered by OS 75 AX 2-stroke engine mounted in a 45 degree angle. I am using APC 14x6 prop with Model Tech 20% intro. Aircraft GC is balanced and model is laterally balanced too. It just took 5 grams of lead weight on the right wing. The problem I am having is that at test flight, model required lots of right trim to fly it straight. The right aileron is about 1/8 up travel from neutral position to fly straight and level. At this setting invert flight is also straight and model does not drop its wings. Also vertical flight is almost straight with just a touch of right rudder required.
Now model does not track straight in a loop. In the first few flights model required left aileron input to keep the tracking correct when coming out of loop. Then after couple of flights I added 10 grams of additional weight under right wing tip thinking that this would correct the 1/8 up travel required by aileron to fly the model straight. Now in a loop model requires left rudder input to keep the tracking straight when coming out of loop. I would like to know what could correct these two issues that I am having.
1. Model requires 1/8 of up travel of right aileron to fly the model straight.
2. Model does not track correct when coming out of loop. It either needs left aileron/ and or rudder to keep the tracking correct.

Asif

RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?
Did you balance the model inverted from win tip to wing tip? It may have a heavy side (usually the side of the engine head). This will cause a drop of the heavy wing. There are a number of other things that could cause this also, from incidence issues to alignment. Only thing you can do is go over the plane with a fine tooth comb and make sure everthing is straight and balanced and fly it again. I only have 4 flights on mine and it is one of the best tracking planes I have flown in a long time.

Maineflyer,
I have latterally ballanced the model. The surprizing thing is eventhough the engine is mounted at 45 degree, the lateral baqlance called for weight on the right side. Usually it would be left side, but in my aircraft the weight is on the right side. Also right aileron is up by 1/8" not the left.
I have spoken with LHS and he thinks that the wings could be warp if the thrust line is OK. I will check again my thrust line and elevator halves, but I am sure that is all fine.......

I'm amazed from all the good things I am hearing about this plane. I want to do ALL-OUT 3D with this plane. I don't have a lot of money ( I'm only 14), so I was wondering what engine would give me the most bang for my buck???

A saito isn't the best bang for your buck, but is the best. You can pick one up for about 200 used. I know money is hard to come by, but I had to wait a couple months to save for my extra. Don't compromise and you will surely be happy. Saying that, I think an os 91fx would work too.

Ya, It takes a lot of determination and hard work to save up for something like that. I was looking at the O.S. engine you suggested. Looks like either one of those would be a great combo with the plane.

RE: Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle Who's Got One?
I know exactly what your talking about. I started flying when I was 14, 16 now. This plane screams for a four stroke. Used saito 100's can be bought up pretty cheap. I personally am using a os 91 fs. It's heavier and doesn't have as much power as the 100 but it is acceptable. The problem is I have my battery behind the servo tray, two rear elevator servos, and some lead on the tail. Instead of getting a new engine, I'm saving up for an extreme flight 74" yak with a os 160. So a saito 91 would work better than my engine(balance and weight wise) but not quite as well as the 100.
