It will be fine. For peace of mind, you can throw a little epoxy on it when you fuel proof and reinforce your firewall. If you have already done that, just add a coat, but dont fill in the bolt head

As far as the needle valves, take a piece of an old threaded rod, put it in your high needle valve and secure with set screw. Make it long enough to extend past cowl, and put a 90 degree bend. Cut a piece of fuel tubing to fit between needle valve and bend so it wont vibrate into your cowl. Also make a hole big enough for a long small flat tip screw driver, and reaching the low needle is a snap looking through front of cowl.

If you dont already have a remote glow driver, I recommend the one from hangar 9. Its the easiest to install, and looks the best. You dont have the glow plug sticking out of the side of your plane. Its like a headphone jack. It comes with everything you need, and its one of the lowest priced. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=HAN3025

I will be adding the holes for the needle valves today, maybe tomorrow. I'll post pics if you want.

Ok, sounds good.

Thanks for the advice on the extension. Do you cut that wire down to just fit in your cowl? Looks like it's pretty long

Falcon, yes, I ended up putting it right up to the hatch. Not covering of course. Don't you have to put it here to have something to screw into?
Short of building up all around the fuse

Hi trpastor

I used hard wood blocks epoxied to the former.
One top and bottom and two on each side and screw the cowl to those.
Use hex head servo screws and a rubber grommet under the screw so as not to damage the cowl. This will also help prevent them working loose.

Hope that helps.

Hey Guys

I'm having an issue and wanted to see what you guys think

I have the mount measured out to where the cowl and spinner are going to fit together really nice. About 1/8th space. The problem I'm having is that when I put the cowl on now, the cowl is rubbing on the top left side (as you face the plane). I think it is becuase when I drilled the mounts, I wasn't able to drill them completely even, all the way through, so they turn to one side on the bottom (or top as they are mounted on the plane)... SEE PHOTO.

Also, I see that a lot of you were able to exhaust on the bottom center. The way my saito 100 lines up I am going to have to send it out the side (see photo again). Is there a way to send it out the bottom or should I just let it go out the side.

Any recommendations on how to drill the mounts more evenly? Can I buy some new mounts to start with now (that I've mis drilled these)?

OH< and lastly, I went with a dubro tank. As you can see it doesn't fit well either (the stock tank didn't fit worth a damn either). Any suggestions on how to secure it in there (see photo again!

Thanks
Tim

You could try to elongate the holes in the mount a little and bring the engine forward enough to clear the cowl. Other than that it’s a new engine mount [:@]
I used a slim line inverted Pitts type muffler, it’s a bit heavier than the original Saito one but looks much better and sounds great.
As far as the tank is concerned, I built a shelf as far back as I could over the throttle servo and used a Dubro 12 oz.
It does make it a pain to put in the wing bolts but they’re a fiddle anyway.

Finally got some time to finish, she is ready to fly. AUW 6lbs 10oz, a little heavier than I hoped, but I didnt really try to save weight. I could probably knock at least 4 or 5 oz, going to wait and see how she flies first. CG is at 5.125 inches (132mm).

Hey Jemini

Looks great! Let me know how she flies!

I have a Question for all of you on this forum!!!!.... SINCE, this plane seems to be a bad ass flyer for it's class/size, AND it is no longer available, if I end up flying mine and loving it when I'm done, but crash it etc.. are there any other planes in it's size OR smaller that are nitro powered that will fly like it?

Thanks
Tim

Hey Tianci,

I don't see the Sebart available for sale either? I guess it's hard to come across a really good flying medium plane, huh?

anyone else have suggestions

Aeroworks 60" edge 540T is awesome with a Saito 100, and the new quick build Yak and Extra .60 to .90 look good too. http://www.aero-works.net/store/

Tim ... the Sebart Angel flies ever so well. You should try it. If not for my spare Fliton Extras I would have purchased the Sebart SU. I heard a lot of good things about the Aeroworks but never had a chance to fly one. I believe the new ones are better in that they have reinformed the fuse forward of the wing LE so it does not snap off on hard landings.

Cool! Sounds good guys. At least I know there are some options should I take this one out hard!

Jemini, let me know how you feel about the fliton compared to the AW edge, since you've flown both (or will have)

Fliton is definately one I plan to never experience again. But then again, this is the only plane they have that I would buy. When this one reaches it's expiration date, I plan to get the Aeroworks 60 to 90 Extra QB, or maybe another edge.

I have bought my first and last Fliton product! The product support is terrible. It is insulting to other arf builders who bend over backwards for their customers to spend your money with a company such as Fliton who cares nothing about customer service. I really wished I had purchased the .60 sized Edge 540 from Aeroworks.

No. Still snow on the runway. I may get to tomorrow if its not as windy as they are predicting. Dont want to maiden in 17mph wind. Today melted the snow, I'm sure.

Ah! Yeah, we had snowy runways too in STL. I'm excited to hear your opinion of the 2. Good luck, and yeah, wait for a good day. No point in rushing, I learned my lesson on that
