Sean Tucker's Airplane
Hello-Does anybody have information on Sean Tucker's airplane? Saw him perform at a Chicago airshow in August in an aircraft that looked like an Ultimate but wasn't. It was a real crowd-pleaser and you often wondered how it held together in all the high speed, outside maneuvers.
I'd really like to try an RC version of this aircraft (whatever it is)? It was the closest thing to 3D, full scale, that I have seen.

Believe it is a Pitts Challenger, a modified pitts with ultimate style wings, only kit I remember of such airplane was an ISC model (ARC) by Indy RC, so you might try them, was a 62" model for G-62 size engine, hope this helps

Actually.. Sean's new airplane is based upon the Christen Eagle fuselage, with Ultimate wings. The original airplane was a modified Pitts S-2S, but that was lost in a crash by a ferry pilot awhile ago.
Really though.. there's very little that's a stock anything. Sean did his own cowl, several mods to the fuse, different tail group, etc.

Shawns Aircraft is based on a Christen Eagle fuselage and has some modifications on the elevator and ruder and Ultimate style wings.
You can get a coplete kit of this aircraft at www.emhw.de
There are also pictures of this Aircraft on this website...with the old black design 10-10-220 on it!
The pictures were taken at an airshow at La Ferté in France.
I´m sure there is a distributor of theese kits in the US.
I think you can find this Kit on the desert aircraft homepage...just try.

Thanks for this great information guys. Just one more question-regarding the website Laminator recommended, is the red Oracle plane the same aircraft that used to be the black 10-10-220 one?
Also, my apologies for incorrect spelling- the pilot's name is Sean D. Tucker.

-If anyone is interested, my Dad is the one who cuts the kits designed by Miles Reed. I believe that the Oracle bipe is the Challenger model and the 10-10-220 was the Christian Eagle. He cuts full kits and also does builder's kits with a few parts, like the cabanes and landing gear, and the blueprints.
-If you know anything about Miles' designs, you know the quality. My Dad has been cutting these kits for about the last 6-8 yrs. He was asked by Miles to take over the business. The company is called BLCC Custom Kits and Covers and his name is Dave Dessecker.
-He has shipped kits all over the world. He just sent one to the Czeck Republic just before the holidays. he will give you honest advice and no B.S. about what you're looking for.

If you look closely, the bottom wing of Sean's plane is not swept back. The top wing is much like an Ultimate, and the bottom is like a Pitts S-2. The plane is based on the Pitts Challenger 2. The Ultimate Pitts by Lanier is really close. Most of Sean's plane is of his (or his team's) doing. There isn't much left of the Pitts designed plane.
RighThrust is right. The 10-10-220 plane is gone. The Oracle is all new.

The story they told at the San Diego air show was that Sean had this plane built especially for him and his flying requirements. They said there was really no plane that could do what he wanted it to do, so he had to go custom.
By the way he was flying, I don't doubt it had to be a custom job.

Sean Tucker gives a heck of a show, that's for sure. I still think it's based on the Challenger 2. It is for sure not an Ultimate. It for sure has a straight bottom wing. Sean's site calls it the "Oracle Challenger". It's probably one of a kind. Jim Leroy has a very similar plane, however.

The 96" Challenger II and now 69.5" Challenger III are based off of Sean's plane...
It has an Ultimate style upper wing, swept back no dihedral and a straight lower wing with a little dihedral...
here's a graphic I did of the Challenger III Prototype Dave Dessecker built...

Not sure...
What to think about that...
The cabanes and struts might be different enough to cause ill effects... then again it might be the biggest winner of them all...
Hard to say...
Dave Dessecker does sell Miles Reed's Challenger II plans... 93" wing (I just checked the specs).
I''ve just started 2 of the Challenger III's (69.5") one to fly and the other to sell...

Yes
The Challanger III was given the extra "I" because of it's size... I suppose....
It is BASED on the 93" Challlenger II plans by Miles Reed, but modified by Dave Dessecker to 69.5" size. Other things were redesigned too like removal of the engine box and designing a strong firewall...
Looks VERY sweet.... I have all the formers cut out for two of these now (and one set of ribs) and now am just awaiting an order of wood to create the sides and get started....
I expect to crank on these big time....
I have a brand new ZDZ 50 waiting on mine... I will also be covering mine custom instead of the Oracle scheme...

What is the weight sizing up to be?
Do you have an e-mail address for Mr. Dessecker or a web site? How are the plans for accuracy for a novice+ builder?

17lbs approximately...
Not sure it's a good set for a novice +...
A lot left to the builder to determine from the plans... instructions are 3 typed pages with no pics...
I do plan on creating a construction website that should help however...
Or you could buy my 2nd plane "in da bones"...
This oughtta be a SWEET plane... and you're sure to not see may like it at ANY club...
