It will be fine. A lot of people are putting the 1.50 on it (including myself), which is sufficient. I wouldn't say the 1.80 is overkill, because I love power, but I think it may be the rule of diminishing returns. I hear the 1.80 burns much more fuel than the 1.50, and everyone who has the 1.50 says that it provides plenty of power (I've never seen that disputed). So, it will be fine if you don't mine forking over the $$$ for the fuel. Just watch your throttle and keep the speed low. Use that power for vertical pull, not lateral speed.

I would use a small about of epoxy to reinforce the firewall joints. You'll need taller main gear (CF is a good option for weight reduction - http://www.tntlandinggear.com/store/...nding_gear.htm) to fit an 18" prop and everyone is upgrading their tailwheel to a Sullivan. I've heard the 1.80 runs really rough as well, so a vibra-damp mout or at least some rubber washers is probably a good idea (http://www.dbproducts.com/).

Just keep the prop pitch 6 and under and watch the throttle on downlines. I think you'll be very happy with the 1.80. I wouldn't probably gone that route had I not found a 1.50 for a good price on Ebay.

Finally someone else who appreciates the way to overpower a plane. Sounds awesome. Theres a website called the flying cirkus and there are tons of guys putting 180's in their F 90's. Myself personnaly opted for a YS 1.40 sport but thats because I am addicted to YS's. Beef up everything. CF gear is almost a must TNT as mentioned before there stock F90 gear is 2.5" higher than the stock gear given with the ARF. Use good servos nothing less than Karbonites and a must MG on the rudder. Lots of guys us MG all around I have the 5475 hitec digitals in mine except throttle and Rudder. Seal all hinge points. Plane should be a blast to fly with a powerhouse engine on it. Should weigh in about 10 # or so

There is plenty of room in this plane for a very large fuel tank.

There is plenty of room for a bigger tank. I have a 24 oz tank in mine.I am running a OS 120 pump engine and am also going to put a Saito 180 on mine. The OS 120 is too weak for hovering at 1/2 throttle.

Might as well put the da-150 in it lol you guys like your power huh! im sure the s180 will be fine , go for it put it in and try it, i used a ys110fz in mine has loads of power, to keep the wieght down i done away with one tail servo and used an elavator joiner and used a micro servo on thorttle and a light wieght rx and changed the wheels to light foam ones 2/34 inch , neat cooling idea and cutting on the cowl by Jimbo..

Were only talking about roughly 3 1/2 oz. difference in the weight of the Y.S. 1.10 and the Saito 1.80. Use a Li-ion instead of NiCD, and some CF gear and the plane will weigh less with the 1.80 than a stock plane with the Y.S. 1.10

great sounding combo if you ask me.

I have alsot the os1.2 pump, its the best engine right after the YS fz, but 2.1 bhp is not enough with MG servos, I need at least 3.0 bhp. Go for it.

Wich CF landing gear is the rieght one for the funtana & 18x6W?

Go to TNT .com. Their Funtana 90 LAnding gear is 2.5" higher than the stock gear. Thats what I am using and I have a YS 1.40 sport on mine running a 18X6W. There is a website for extra tall CF gear for the Funtana but they have been out of stock for a while and dont know when it will be in.

yea especially where you live. I have no sympathy though sorry. If I could fly year round I would be in 7th heaven. You see up here in the North East we have what you would call..... WINTER !!!!! Arggggghhhhhh. And it definatly puts the RC fling to a halt for me anyway I hate the cold. we get to fly probably 7 maybe 8 months out of the year but mostly 7. I envy you southern mid western guys even the lower west coast.

I've never seen snow! Yes is pretty cool down here we can fly year round! But in the summer the humidity gets pretty bad.

Gene is on vacation this week but when he comes back you can get your CF gear from

www.troybuiltmodels.com

You might also want to check out his Li-ions. I use them and they work great, plus A LOT cheaper than the overpriced guys.

all saito 150,180 and ys 140 are over kill the best engine is a ys 110fz on yamada 20/20 fuel and that is enough power not over kill or under power
and whats the point of making the plane lighter if you are over powering plane there is no point atol.

Saying that they are overkill is off base. Yes, they are more power than needed, but it is not more power than could be desired.

Keeping the plane light is a KEY factor in plane performance, regardless of power source. No use in putting all the power in if the plane will fly like crap due too high wingloading.

Thats my take...
