RE: Which one performs better for 3D, H9 Twist or CG Extreme 330?
I'm going on my third Twist in less than a year. The plane is a riot to fly. The problem is with me, I can't help but play close to the ground with 'em. I just lost my second one today while flying in 25 mph winds. The last one had 15-20 gals through it, so that ain't too bad a return on $99.

About the same when set up the same way. I happen to fly both those birds within the past week.

From the looks of the Twist I can't imagine it will knife edge as good as the Extreme but I've never flown a twist.

I fly both - the twist has a lot of coupling in knife edge flight - I really like my extreme 330 better. I have a magnum 52xls on the twist and a saito 72 on the 330. I have flown another flyer's 330 with an os 50sx - liked it also.

Tiroloco,
I like myTwist. But only after I modified the wingtips did the 3D performance improve (see pix).

I have never flown the twist. I have never really seen anyone doing any 3D worth a crap with it. However I have flown the extra 330 and I know its a great flying airplane. Hovers really easy

I had the Twist, flown the 330. Like YNOT says, they are close when set up the same way...
One thing I noticed is that my Twist could handle higher speeds, it kinda looks funny watching a funfly plane whizz by at 80mph.

I've flown and help set up a couple of each of these. If 3D is what you want to do the 330 is winner hands down, it's heavy IMO fow what it is but it can do the moves. The twist is the strangest plane I have ever flown, knife edge is a chore as the model really doesn't seem to want to do it in the first place. The biggest gripe I have with the twist is that it DOESN'T glide at all, engine quits and it falls out of the sky. I can't figure it out as the short thick wing and light weight should glide pretty well but the simply doesn't. I've seen every one that has come to our field get broken in half when the engine quit and the pilot tried to dead stick it in. The only posative attribute to the twist IMO is the price.
If you really want a great airplane for that engine avoid both of the one's you mentioned. The Accel Katana is at least a full pound lighter than the 330 which makes a world of difference when the models are this size. The price is lower than the 330 as well but a bit more than the twist.

i have a Katana GS and CG Extreme 540, it's like sky and earth they're both very different, well for constraction the CG way over the Katana, but it weight way over too, very heavy profile 3d plane, i just bought a Twist, just wanna prove about others said about this hangar 9 sport/aerobatic plane.. let's see what it got...
if i can say, CG had a good stuff included, the servo horn, control rod, they're all good quality but HEAVY !!! very tail weight...

Shogun has it,
being into profiles myself, when it comes to flying 3D, profiles have it.
I happen to know a bunch of hooligans who will agree. The CG isn't my first choice but if you want a 3D performer, nothing beats a profile. With the weight of the cG I'd opt for a .50 or .52 2 stroke or an .82 2 stroke.

I was wondering if you have any pictures of HOW you modified your wing on the Twist?
Thanks

i just flown my very new TWIST 3D, ... good plane... well it glides... hovers hmmm not bad for OS 46AB with 12.25x3.75, lightweight, good CG, actualy... i like this plane better than my other profiles (CG Extreme 540 and KATANA, but SOMEHOW NOTHING BEATS KATANA)
i think i'm gonna need my prop change... how about 12.75x3 ??? any opinion ????

RE: Which one performs better for 3D, H9 Twist or CG Extreme 330?
My Twist flew much like you guys descibed and I was ready to trash it. Knife edge was terrible and wouldn't land worth a crap. I tried somthing for the heck of it the motor (os 46ax) was installed according to the manual CG was at 5 in well I moved the motor all the way to the end of the mount put the CG at 4 3/4 and it flys like a completly different airplane I can knife edge it all the way across the field loop it at the end and all the way back across it still couples just a little. There are 3 other Twists in my club and everyone that has one had to fly it none of them could believe that moving the motor out 1/2 inch could make that much difference. They are all moving theirs now. Try it on your Twist I promise you will not regret it! She is a blast to fly now! The only thing the guys at the field could figure is it allows more thrust to strike the rudder and elevators now. If you look at your Twist and imagine how the ir is going over that large canopy you can kinda see what I mean. I hope this helps you guys I know that if I ever tear this plane up I will get another one! You can't beat it for 99 bucks!

I strongly suggest if you want a 3d capable airplane, (Im talking high alpha stuff not just hangigng on the prop) you scrap both of these planes-- especially the twist-- and get yourself either the accel Kat 40 or the OMP edge or yak. OMP's arf profiles are in now from what I hear. Either of the 3 will outfly 3d hands down the 2 you have suggsted. I have flown them all at least 2 flights and have owned several of what I mentioned. I would recommend the OMP yak if you are fairly proficient in 3d and the omp edge if your in the learning stages. better yet find the time to build a mojo
