Then, someone at the field landed in the pit area and ran his plane into my New 260 and destroyed the left wing and put a hole in the side of the fuse, then would not pay for the damage. What a day :-((

Hi guys,
This may have been brought up already in this lengthy thread but here goes:
I'm setting mine up with Hitec 5945MGs all around except for one 8611A on rudder; my question was, can I use the included 1" blue anodized aluminum servo arms on my elevator and ailerons?
3D throw is not my goal, I'll be flying it primarily for IMAC.
Thanks in advance,
Chris R.

I would seriously consider a fight. That sucks. I finished Pimpin' My Ride this afternoon. I received my new prop as well. I am going to check it out 2morrow at the field. My cowl should be in Monday and I am going to put in the Saito 220. I am still not sure what prop to run on this engine. I am going to try my APC 18x8W first.

Mark, I would personally get his info and pursue this. This is no different than your typical fender bender. He could've really injured someone.

I would take him to small claims court with H9 invoices and labor charges. No way can someone cause you $$ losses and not be libal to make you hole again. I'll bet a letter from a legal begal would shake the coins out of him.

Matt,
What size spinner is that in your pic in post #1484 just above this one?
I ask because I scored a 3", and am wondering if it will lork dorky since 3.25" is called for. I just can't see an eight of an inch making THAT much difference???

RE: Extra 260 27% Hangar 9er
All,
Thanks for your input, but the person that ran into my plane is going to repair the wing, but if I do not think it will work, I will not use it. I have seen some of his work and it looks real nice, but I would rather have a new wing. If I was the person who missed the runway and caused the damage, I would have just wrote a check for the damage. Much easier, and you keep a good relationship.
I just got the usual, "well things like this happen in this hobby". Now if I crash/damage my own plane, it does not bother me that much, because it was my fault.
BR, Mark

I'm putting a Brison 2.4 in the plane soon and it has a 3.25". I'm sure there won't be much difference.
The full-scale pics I've seen show a monster spinner, so both the 3 & 3.25 are too small for "scale" purposes, but look great on the model. Use it and don't worry about it!

RE: Extra 260 27% Hangar 9er
Had the day off today. The Mejzlik 18x8" doesn't have the pull that the APC 18x6W. I only flies a tick faster. It spools up much better on the ground. As far as the APC 18x8W and the Mejzlik 18x8" I really couldn't tell a difference besides one is $20 and one is $45.
APC 18x6W--------9100 RPM
APC 18x8W--------8200 RPM
Mejzlik 18x8-------8400 RPM
Later

thedak, what engine are you running the 18 X 8W on? I have an OS 160 that is going on mine. Just wondering what prop will be a good place to start.
Thanks,
Craig

That was on my OS 1.6 FX. I am going to get the Saito 220 in this weekend. The 1.6 FX is going in the UL Giles that I ordered from OMP. With the 1.6 FX I would start off with the APC 18x6W.

Matt:
Wondering what your thoughts are on a prop for this 220? I bought an APC 18X10 to run the engine in and am planning on sticking a 20X6 (as recommended) on to fly with... Any specific brands though?

RE: Extra 260 27% Hangar 9er
Guy at the field was using a 20x6" on his 220 and it did not fly fast enough. I am looking for a prop in the 19x7" or 19x8". There are some threads on this engine. I am going to start with an APC 18x10" as you are and go from there. Some of these props aren't cheap so I hope I see one at the field that I like before I buy it.

RE: Extra 260 27% Hangar 9er
How many of you have noticed how much flexure there is in the STAB??? Vertically it's rock solid, but nose to tail there's quite a bit, as much as 1/4 inch at the tip of the Stab. Throughout this post, there have been a couple of guys that have had probs with the stab abutting against the Fuse, but there isn't a problem here. It seems that the Stab Tube is placed 3/4 from leading edge (entire width of the stab), and the positioning dowels are 1/4 back, which causes the flexure.
Mine will get epoxied in place. I also remember a couple of crashes due to unexpected snaps. Just wonder if this flexure would contribute to an unstable airframe.
Also, Matt... I know you indicated that you replaced the main wing tube with a CF unit. Have you replaced the Stab tube also? I've also been looking in to extracting the dowels from the main wing and stab and replacing them with CF units for lighter weight. Not that it's going to matter with this Saito 220, but I'm an extremeist when it comes to lugging around extra fat.

For those of you that went with the Saito 220 mill, Fly RC has a feature article testing this engine. It's in the November 2005 issue.
