The distance from the firewall to the spinner backplate is (6 and 7/8)inches. That gives you 1/4 inch space between the cowl and the spinner back plate. Here is a pic.

I am still thinking about a DZ160, but I know I will need a 20oz tank to get a decent flight time, versus 12 ounces with a gasser.

RE: Extra 260 27% Hangar 9er
Help me!! I'm STILL pondering which motor to buy, DA 50, which will cost ALOT, considering I want a tru turn spinner, and it will need modded for multi bolt, and custom cut for carbon prop, and, I want duralite batteries too. Should I get the Saito 2.20? Dunno help me deside, I dont want the YS 1.60DZ, too expensive. With the DA 50, the gas/oil per gallon, will be about $3.00 mixed, and for the Saito 2.20 I WANT to run Cool Power 30% nitro, 20% synthetic, and that will cost $20.00 a gallon, the DA 50 will cost WAT more upfront, but the Saito will be more expensive on fuel. Plus if I get a DA 50, I want to trick it out, because it would be my 1st gasser, smoke system, lithium-ion, everything!! Thanks!!

Well I think the jury is still out on what the best engine would be I think it would be the YS160 myself but we will have to wait to see how this plane does with some of the other combos the other guys on the forum are putting together. What ever you choose remember KEEP IT LIGHT! I am running a smartfly regulator and a Thunderpower 2100 mah 2 cell for power to the reciever and servos at first I was worried that the battery would not be big enough but I am running all digital servos other than on the throttle and after 7 flights it only used 137mah on recharge. That is pretty good for a battery that weighs 3 oz.

You will NOT want to put smoke on this with a DA50... TOO heavy. You could use lion on the receiver and a 4 cell nicad on the ignition.
Carbon props are generally heavier than wood... so get a decent 22x8 wood prop (at least to break in) and eith some painting you can do at home, you can make a sweet prop... see attached pic of my MSC painted to match my DV) Mount a 16 oz tank under the wingtube.
Trickin' would be a CF spinner (or fiberglass) from Bisson Custom Mufflers. Lighter in the nose and trick looking.
I did a spinner cutting tutorial when I built my EF Yak and Bisson asked to use my pics in their PDF tutorial... see here:

And here is Bisson's Site: http://bissonmufflers.com/

Well I run my OS 1.60's on $8/gallon fuel and get just under 9k on a 18x6W with it and use about 12-14oz for a 10 minute or so flight. It's not that bad on fuel. Some people make it sound like it cost $5 for each flight or something.

Yea it is a new radio as well. Now I just have to wait for another calm day to see how good she really flys. By the way Bill I posted the measurements you wanted on the other forum.

Any idea on the lenght of the servo arms that they are recommending? I want to order some for my Hitec's from Air Wild, but I want to keep the length consistant...
BK
PS. Which radio do you have?

I used the 3/4 inch arms and every thing worked out great. I even used the long double sided arm for my pull pull setup. The new radio is a Jr 9303 I just replaced my 6102 with it so it is a new animal all together.

Has anyone considered a Moki 210 for this plane?
I have one on a Pacific Aeromodel Edge 540T with an 84 inch wing and it flies great.

The 9303 is actually pretty easy to program I just overlooked it in my rush to get the plane done. I am just glad I didn't overlook somthing more vital!

Looks like Most of Saturday is banned FROM Sept 1-Jan. 31
The fly-in is June 17th-19 so isn't limited on Saturday... Sunup to Sundown...
Unless I misunderstand something...
