I am getting mine ready to fly soon. I modified the fuselage to accept a aluminum gear and have a ZDZ40RE on it. I have had a number of Giles and this will just feed my need. My other project is a 50% G202 with a DLE222. Hope to have it flying this winter.

I've got a DLE 30 on mine and am wondering when the wings and control surfaces are going to depart the plane
cause it's like a rocket ship. Can't imagine it would stand up to any more power than what I already have and
I'm sure the ZDZ HAS to have more.

I have a friend who is going to take the wreckage of my G202 and put it back together for me. Can't wait!

Ijust hope the rebuild doesnt get to expensive, and end up having to keep it for myself!
Here's the rebuild thread for whoever's interested. The only part in real question is the canopy. Its not terrible, but does have a few pretty good cracks/splits in it.

Hi All,
anyone have an extra canopy for their G202? My Cat walked all over mine and dented it badly and caused a small crack in the plastic as well. I have the original "gaudy" color scheme but either will do as I need one badly! will pay for the canopy plus shipping! email, pm, reply to this thread if you have one please! many thanks!

After looking at the kit again and reading some glowing reviews about the Giles I have reconsidered and am keeping it. I will try to resolve the designs landing gear weaknesses, etc. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks!

If anyone is interested I have a CMP GILES 202 with a Brillelli 46cc pulling it around ready to fly. Its got about a dozen flights on it and just hanging in the garage. I would sell it for $400 and local pick up only. Shoot me a PM if interested. Jack

Just in case someone may be interested in one of these brand new in box, I have one, wing bags and all. Never got around to building it. I want what I paid $379. UPS ship is a steal $120-130 and greyhound about $70

$379??
Are you sure this is the Ultra R/C arf and not someone elses?
The most expensive anyone was selling this plane for was $250 when it was still in production and you could get them on EBay for $169....???

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
I purchased this directly from ultra rc when they were in business and has ultra rc written all over it. It's been in my room for years but in air conditioned room. But yes that's what I paid, remember well. Everyone was buying them, then next thing you know ultra was gone. As far as ebay and all and the prices they went for, I want that price or I'll keep it and put it together and fly it.

you are correct, that was with shipping, after some thought. It has been several years and I'm 56 so it's possible I forgot. Ok then I have to with draw my offer. I wanted this plane sooo bad when it was available and after ultra went away, I lost interest for some reason. The 10 lb foamy thing really got my attention. I'll slap a MVVS 43 gas on it and it will be smooth and all the power I need. thanks sodbuster for helping me to remember. Randy

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
The price of the Ultra-RC Giles 202 was $369.99. I purchased one from Ultra-RC on September 28, 2005 and I liked it so much that I purchased another one on February 17, 2006. The price with shipping was $404.94.
Both of mine are still flying. One is powered by a pumped OS 1.60FX glow engine and the other one is powered by a PTE 36cc rear exhaust gas engine.

I purchased mine from Ultra RC when they were liquidating their stock via Ebay for $300.00 I don't remember the shipping, but is was significantly less then than now! Hope to get it running with an OS200 4 cycle and solid CF rods through the stock landing gear.

ah hah, I thought that I paid that plus shipping. I didn't remember how much shipping I paid, but remember the price on their website. I assume after a while they reduced them here and there. So if anyone wants to buy it, I'll sell it for what I paid plus shipping. It is NIB, nothing broken, all there, pics on request. Since we bought ours, UPS and all other shippers went crazy on shipping a box that size. Remember ship by bus $70-90, UPS was $130, I know these prices because I had it sold then when I went to ship it, I was blown out, having only charged $40 for shipping, so I had to with draw. Make me an offer, I might take it, I want to buy a 100cc for my aeroworks edge, thanks Randy

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
Well... you know a plane is good when a thread survives for this long. I have 3 of these planes.. the first one is still flying on a mvvs 26 gasser with a carbon fiber tuned pipe (built it about 6 or 7 years ago I think and fly it all the time).
The second kit I have just pulled out of the box and I am now starting the build, I am going to power this one with the dle 35-ra. it looks as though I will need to shorten the engine box about 3/4 of an inch to fit this engine but i think the task will be rewarded. I have used the landing gear supplied since day one, the only change I made was while installing the gear I bought a piece of solid carbon fiber rod and slid it into the hollow supllied one and glue with jb cold weld. This proves to be very light and very strong, just make sure you have the rod go through the fuse portion of the gear so as to provide the extra strength where most of the flex/stress of landings occur. I would also like to see this plane back on the market with perhaps a few revisions as well. I fly 50cc-100cc Aeroworks 300's a Carden 300 and a QQ python with 100cc, and this plane is just right up there with them, for its size you just can't beat it.. it is a great plane!

Good report BNJONES! Is your gear glued all of the way through the stock hollow rod or just part to allow some flex??? Have you had some rough landings such as caused by cross winds or gusts, etc? Any need for fuseslage repairs even though the carbon rod gear remains OK?? thanks

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
Hi Gary,
I ran the rod from just below the hole where the hollow one is bolted to the fusealage down about 2/3 of the way, I also only used the jb cold weld in the upper half portion to allow some torsion effect in the lower half of the gear.
I live in an area of southern Alberta Canada where the wind blows frequently and if you don't fly in the wind then.. well you don't fly very often. This plane has been airborne in a wind where I had to fly down full power at a 30 degreeish angle to go forward. I would say 40 mph wind or better. The plane has seen a few hard landings and many many cross wind landings. The Giles will come in very very slow and the gear will take it. I will say though that the gear is still NOT AS STRONG as any prefab carbon gear. I have not done any changes to the fuse portion of the gear. This plane is a giant scale foamy and is just a real pleasure to fly, very very predictable and a trust worthy airframe.
Also one thing I would like to pass on after the build of my first one, I inadverntly placed both my reciever swtich and ignition switch right above the forward wing mounting plates.. what a PIT***** this has been for me the whole time that I have been flying this plane, so watch where you place your switches.
I don't keep fly logs but my guess would be I have over 500 flights (maybe even close to 1000 flights) on this one.
