Once you setup to land the plane will come down gently almost hands off if your CG is correct. It's actually one of the best landing planes I have.

Not knocking you guys building methods but just about every major player in the RC plane world uses this mounting method for horizontal stabs. (screw through the aluminum tube) Mine has been flying all summer. Adding epoxy or similar glue will no doubt make it permanent but it will add weight too.

i have a 40% extra that has the stab on this way along wiht 5million other planes if it will hold the wings of a bird on i would think it would hold a small tail on things that make u go HUM!

Cool thanks for the suggestions, when i get to that stage of the build im going to epoxy everything together. I got all my CF pushrods cut and glued on my wing halfs, looking very strong!!
Any suggestions for an aluminum servo arm for the pull pull with a hitec 5645? Size?

I don't believe that it's overbuilding, I was very cautious with the epoxy. I did it because the stck installation was a little to wiggly for my tastes, and I thought that might cause problems with fine control during aerobatic routines. My plane is gonna be a bit nose heavy anyway, as I'm putting a saito 1.50 on it, so the extra weight of the epoxy won't be a problem. Better to put structural strenght into it than just dead weight.

The Stab will loosen up after a lot of flights, if u use microballons mixed with epoxy the stab will stay fine and will add a negliable amount of weight provided you wipe away the excess.

Well during the building of the bird i found out (kinda late) that the leading edge sheeing on the left wing has a very long crack in it. Called horizon up to see what they can do. Im sending them the wing (which was completed at the time) back and they are going to send me a new one. Till then, guess ill go break in my saito 125.

Subject: Stabilzers loosening.
Hello Showtime-er's, I'm finishing up preping my Showtime and have a question. Right now my stabilizers are nice and tight on their tubes and anti-rotation pegs. Do these loosen up from engine vibration and flight loads? Is this why some glue the stabs in permanently? Thanks

Mine have loosen quite a bit. I tighten them up, fly a bit, tighten again, etc. I've got over 50 flights, I don't notice any flying changes but they do come loose. I think I'll glue them this winter while I can't fly.

Yes; and yes.

One partial solution, if one wishes not to glue them in, is to glue in a piece of dowel within the tube where the screws go, so they are biting into much more than thin aluminum.

This does not solve the problem of the spar tube loosening in its fuse receptacle. I have only flown mine for six flights, and already the wing tube is getting looser in its fit. You cannot convince me that the same thing isn't happening back in the tail. But my stabs are firmly glued in placed, so I don't worry about it.

And while my building skills may not be up to par with some, there's really only one way to put this thing together... it either fits, or it doesn't...

Does anyone know what the fuel tube supplied with the showtime is... is it Tygon or is it glow fuel compatible.

Glow fuel, I don't know of any ARF's that come with Tygon.

Been gone from the posting thing for a few months. Been trying to let things settle down a bit. But I've been reading the posts. Looks like lots of people are enjoying their Showtimes.

Can't fly here. Weather. Looking forward to spring.

After 52 flights on my Showtime it was ready for some maintenance. I've got her all ready to fly again come spring. Had a great time flying this plane but could never get real comfortable flying close to the ground. Mine has a bit of a snaping problem. But I think mostly it's just how it flys. The snappiness helps with flips, snaps etc. And it's a thing of beauty in KE. I fly mostly without the SFGs but use them occasionally. They make it fun to fly and help a lot with KE and flat spins.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with mine.
Looking forward to another year with it.

We have about 12" of snow here, maybe a little less. I'm not having fun. I don't like to fly that much when it very cold. I've been flying a Typhoon a little bit but I quit. Not a good flying plane. Anyways, I'm just basically waiting until spring.
I saw Ron yesterday. He's looking good. We had fun discussing stuff.

Yeah, I have a Mayhem 40 on order. I really think that looks like a neat plane. The only problem is I literally ordered it in January of 2005. It's been on order for a year!!!!
Talk about a bad situation. Last I heard it's supposed to ship in early February. I certainly hope so.

Well getting back on the showtime subject... I ran into a little snag upon building the rest of the fuse as my wing is still at horizon becasue of a cracked sheeting on the LE. All the builders who are using the hitec 5625 servos, did you find that the servos are to long as both servos hit each other when inserted their repective slots? Since the fuselage has a narrow taper near the end its enough for two elevator servos to hit each other. Thinking of adding some scrap balsa to make a spacer to allow the servo clear the other.

Be SURE to check your wing and stab incidence. I think mine is off, but won't investigate until I get the new aileron servos installed. No sense in doing any trim work that will just have to be duplicated.

I was in a hurry when I assembled this plane, and didn't check wing OR stab incidences. That has come back to bite me, as I'm carrying quite a bit of aileron trim for level flight. I just hope it IS the wings; if its the stabs, I'm hosed... I glued those in.

Well I took the big plunge this week..on Monday I bought a new Funtana 90 and running a Evo 26GT 1.6 gasser in it with a Bisson Pitts muffler...and On Thursday bought a new Showtime 90 running a Evo 26Gt 1.6 gasser and a tuned pipe....Now I know I've lost my mind..These ought to be a BLAST.....V.Rap
