Ok I have this Edge 540 and it's a great flyer but I need a new canopy.

Anyone have any parts left over from a mishap? Please let me know what you may have I'm looking for at least a Canopy.

did you call Hobbico? they may still have some instock... I had to buy a new one and it cost me like 59.00 bucks with shipping though... My Edge is Over! I was doing a hammer head into the sun with out shades on and lost orientation of the plane and after a little struggle it went in... My canopy is toast! so is the rest of my plane, I replaced it with a 50cc yak from harris and Anderson on ebay. It has the scheme of the Aeroworks Yak 100cc but the colors are a tad lighter overall it is a really good plane it went together Like butter! I still have to put it in the air though. The Muffler has to be RE welded at the spout joint, I have to find an aluminum welder, and that sucks!

yeah, its gone... don't tell anyone but Chief aircraft still has them in stock! I originally planed on getting another but I fell in love with the Dietrich Extra 260... its about 50 to 60 bucks cheaper than the extreme flight stuff and its a quick build ARF...

Ok I got my new canopy for my Edge. After getting bounced around at Great Planes / Hobbico I spoke to a woman at option #3 on the phone who was very helpful. I was able to get a new Canopy for my Edge. The price was the same as what Lanier advertised which is a little high but I have not been able to match anything up to it from any other plane or company. Fiberglass specialties does not make any parts for this plane.

I also asked about any complete planes and they do not have any but they do have some spare parts still if anyone needs anything.

This airplane is awesome! I now have around 10 flights on it. So far so good. Hey Lanier! (Tower Hobbies?) YOU SHOULD MAKE MORE OF THESE! Roll rate is awesome. Did a little harrier type flying and there was less wing rock then my Aviation Models/SD Models Yak 54 30%.

Well... I've done another 10 flights or so... this airplane with the Brillelli 366gt is a great combo. The engine is still breaking in but is starting to develop some serious power!

The right thrust is close.

That c of g works perfect. Haven't had to change it.

Knife edges are pretty clean considering I haven't done any adjustments.

yeah, its a really good flying plane... I wish I still had mine. GP should start this line again, they were really good planes for the price when I got mine... if they brought them back out I don't think they would sell them for so cheap anymore....

Hey guys...

Did any of you have problems with this airplane eating rudder servos? I have one Hitech 5955tg with a 1 inch arm to 1.5 inch hinge line and after 20 or so flights the servo started to wiggle at center. Put another 7955tg and yet again after 20 or so flights the servo is starting to wiggle when at center.

Any thoughts?

Chris

Hey airlyons,

I didn't have 7955tg's on my plane but My servo lost some resolution after a while also... That is a very big rudder and if you use it a lot, it can eat some servos up... I would suggest ganging up the 2 servos on the tail instead of just the one... They don't have to be as strong as the 7955tg, just get some nice Power HD digitals from TBM or Hobby city, you will pay less and have just as much power... you might have to readjust your CG though.

Hey Guys...

Anyone go to just one servo per aileron?

If so, did you re-mount the servo in the middle of the aileron or as tailtouch mentions... just using the inboard one.

Would definitely like to save the 4 or 5 oz.

I am using one servo per aileron on my Lanier Edge. 5945's mounted on the "outboard" hole (this seemed to me to be the closest to the center of the aileron, which is what I think is important), and a little Monokote over the "inboard" hole. Combination with a Taurus 52cc this plane comes in ready-to-fly around 17lbs. Around 20 flights and no problems.

I measured the location of the 2 aileron servo locations and compared them to an EF Yak 88".
The location of the servo on the EF Yak is about 1.5" away (towards the wing tip) when compared to the inner aileron servo on the Edge.

The servo is not centered on the EF Yak but more towards the root of the wing. Apparently there is more pressure on the aileron closest to the root.

I think the flex on the aileron is more critical than the location of the servo location.

It should be a rocketship with the Evolution 58.

Will post reports when I get it in the air.

Anyone have the user manual for this plane.
Also, anyone have a spare cowl.
