Default Carbon Fiber Wing Tubes?

Don't really know where to go so I thought I make this post and see if the good people on this forum can steer me in the right direction.

I'm considering a carbon fiber wing tube for my Showtime and my Harrier 3D. Any suggestions as places that sell them?

Thanks
Barry

Hi barry,

Probuild in the UK sell some, if you e-mail them I'm sure they'd know some way of getting them stateside.

When I had to cut the holes for my CF landing gear on my Funtana 40, I just used a drill bit on a Dremel and used that. I had to cut the bottom off near the wheel because it was too long, and the carbon fiber reinforced cut off wheel did the job PERFECTO!

I'm sure you could use any type of fast cut-off wheel, but I perfer a Dremel, very clean cuts!

I just used a hacksaw to cut it, BUT do not breath any of the CF dust, VERY bad for your health!! I had my wife hold the vacuum hose on the underside to collect any dust that fell.

Yeah, that dust is crap....I tried not to breath anything in, and I didn't think I did, but I sure was itching about 10 min later. Make sure to take a cold shower after you cut CF and you have the fibers on you...

According to the C clamp I have taped to an old yardstick-----my Showtime has a 1.0625 OD aluminum wing tube -(that's one and one sixteenth inch). Ditto for my 260 Extra
The sites for CF mentioned, do not show this size.

I can't find the CF wing tube for the Showtime or my Harrier. I thought I'd just call a couple of people and have them. But nobody seems to be making them yet. Graphictech emailed me and said they were looking at those sizes and might have them available after the first of the year.

So far I'm doing ok though. The planes fly good even without the lighter wing tubes. It would same me probably 2 ozs on the Showtime and 4 ozs on the Harrier. I would probably buy them,...if I could.

Thanks
Barry

I'm looking for one for my H-9 27% extra (1 1/16" tube). It works out to 27mm Outside Diameter. My stock aluminum tube was a little sloppy. I wrapped it with two layers of shipping tape to snug it up.
