Nobody makes a Jam up 107" Yak to my knowledge. Aviation Models has one that size. Quiques is a bit small for my taste and so is the comp arf 2.6. We need a true 35% size yak from extreme flight, weighing in at under 25lbs.

And I have a thought about the two sets of dual rudder servos..... that is a SHORT fuselage, only 68", so.... to get balancing right and allow gas motors, it must be they intend TWO rudder servos in the TAIL, if gas, and in the FUSE with pull-pull, if Glow....
Anyway - it is definitely the glue in stab like the Ultimate, and it is at a very awkward wing area for a 50cc gasser..... whatcha'all think?

I'd put money on the OS 1.60 or Saito 2.20 route for really spirited performance.... probably the OS, use two "push-pull" servos in the tail.... with Saito (heavier), probably pull-pull dual servos in the fuse middle area.... just a guess, but that's how they have the Ultimate layed out.
AFter looking - closely - I'm passing, because I would ONLY use a gasser, and there ain't a gasser light enough until the BME 55 comes out....and then it would be iffy....

Well, I was thinking about Evolution 45GX before BME 55 surfaced. I am not in a rush either. So in my case, it will most likely be BME 55.

I use the Hitec 5945's & a 5955TG on my EF 87" Yak. I've been very satisfied with their performance. I personally know three people who have experienced lock up on their JR 8611A's. IMHO the Hitec is the better product, my choice, anyway.

If it is what they claim (and they did come thru on the 110) it will open a lot of doors for Gas.[8D]

I have never run the JR servos (way too pricey for the specs) but I have run both of those hitechs..5945 is a great servo, 5955 is AWESOME. Thats whats going in my OMP Hybrid.

STG - I agree completely.... the published BME55 specs at this point seem to point to it being a "drop in" on practically ANY "standard" 1.40-1.60 glow airframe with outstanding performance potential, and none of the drawbacks of running glow (higher "wet" takeoff weight", slime, glow plugs, slime, expensive fuel, slime).
It may be what forces me to get the GP Yak....with 8411's and a single 8611 on rudder.... ohhhhhh, baby........... could be a good un.

I just ordered four HS-5925MG and one HSC-5955 servos. March should be a month to buy GP Yak and end of April BME 55 engine.
I decided to go for 5925 because of the speed. It appeares that these are very fast servos. The torque on them is very similar to Futaba S3305. And S3305 is the servo used on ailerons on that Yak on GreatPlanes web site.
What kind of servo should I get for Throttle?

ON throttle, DIGITAL is NOT the way to go... QuiQue S. explains well on his website on the 85" Yak manual....so... what I recommend is a fast, coreless, analog servo. You don't need a lot of power, but you need a lot of accuracy and speed, IMO. JR 4131's are good, easy to get used cheaply, not the fastest around.
OTOH - I'm currently "experimenting" with a Bluebird servo (GASP!!!!) on throttle on the Goldberg Yak.... VERY fast, non-coreless, non-digital, but really seems fine so far. Time will tell. I bought this Bluebird 631 standard gears on a whim because of the speed; it is really VERY fast on throttle....

My YAK just arrived today. Monokote looks great but it hasn't been out in the sun yet.
Planning to use Fuji 43 and Hitec digitals. (because I have all that stuff!)
BTW, unless someone else figured it out, the rudder servos work this way:
2 servos at tail for heavier gas engine
OR
2 servos under canopy if using lighter 2 cycle glow.
Not Both!
I'd plan on a 14 pound plane., but I'll weigh all the parts in the box tonight.

My Yak is arriving tomorrow. However, I am not planning to fly it until I put my hands on that BME 55cc engine. I also am looking to buy Duralite Flight System Powerbox, because I like the idea of having a redundant battery system.

UPDATE!! Everything in the box that will fly with the plane weighs 8.99 pounds. I'm not using the 5 ounce plastic engine mount so I didn't add this in.
Also the heavy plywood cowl alignment rings were not included for obvious reasons.
Add your engine weight, servos, batteries and receiver, and there's your anticipated total weight

Just picked up my GP Yak at my LHS. Other than a tiny chip on the cowl bottom it looks perfect to me. I don't see a single wrinkle anywhere in the covering. Should have her ready to fly by morning! Well some morning anyway. It is already built so I would call it a simple assembly. I'll try my trusty ST-3250 to begin and go from there. Fancey new gaser right now is out of the question. It is only entertainment you know.
