Default Pizazz Designer?

Anyone know who designed the Pizazz? I have "reverse engineered" the ARF
into a set of CAD plans and want to give the designer credit somewhere on there.
I made a few mods here and there (rudder counterbalance, optional thicker wing).
My collaborator Mr. Rock is creating a tiled pdf file that I will post sometime soon.

Id like to see the cad plans that you came up with?
It is always interesting to see what others have done to modify or improve an existing design.

Actually the Hangar 9 Twist is the evolution of the Pizazz design.

Mike,
OK, so you are not taking credit for designing it?
Should I just credit "Hangar9" for the original design then?
Lots of guys in my club (the Sodbusters here in Minnesota)
liked the Pizazz so I decided to "archive" it with some plans.
I'll eventually post the multi-page pdf on my site
(pre tiled for easy printing to letter size paper).
I have not actually built one from the plans yet, so someone
else will have to QA it for me...or wait till this winter.
I DID scratch build a new wing for mine once though.
So back to my original question, any ONE or TWO people
I can credit with the original design (without going all the way
back to the HOTS that is?)

Dave,
Yeah, another mod was to show the servos for the tail in the back...
I ended up with my Rx pack behind the wing to get mine to snap nicely.

I have the RX in front but put a 1000NiCad in the back of the wing behind the servos. I am needing the 72 on mine for another project. I thought I would put a ST 90 on the nose and put the servos in the tail. I hope it wont get to heavy. It sure is fun to land on a heli pad the way it is.
I have a buddy that has a Rossi 60 on his with a pipe. It flys nice but the pipe is fickle at low RPM. The 90 ST should be better.

One with half the pitch and lots of blade area.
Narrow blades and high pitch are not so hot for
static thrust. I use a .70 Surpass and a 3 blade Graupner prop.
Very nice combo that is. Hobby Lobby sells them.
By the way, the tiled Pizazz plans are now on my site.

Flyboywbl, that prop is way too small and too much pitch. I would try a 14in with a 6in pitch or something similar. You are probably stalling out that prop at the speeds the Pizazz goes.

I'd try the 12.5x7 on the 91.

Here is my Pizzaz prop. It's a 23-yr old variable pitch prop. Prop servo is mounted on firewall.

I used to love this plane. I 're-kitted' mine thanks to a flying collegu of mine handing the Tx back with the plane going down at 45 degrees inverted at full throttle and about 10 feet...not much left! But still we got it rebuilt and i loved it until yet again it broke, however it was my fault and i followed it up with a Harrier .46 3D. The tail feathers are now part of a homebuilt job.

Nice plane, didn't like the fact the wing didn't come off though, struggled to fit it in our classic Saab 96 V4! Yeah the Hangar 9 Twist is the development of the Pizzaz. Some guy won our club comp with one, i was amazed at the deceleration of it - must be super light!

I hate to bring up an old thread, but I just found a Pizzaz at a local hobby shop, drastically marked down. I decided to buy it, thinking that I could put my OS 40 LA in it. However, there seems to be some interest in the preservation of this model according to this thread. Having lived in Minnesota, I saw one of these models and the memories of living there are important to me.

Anyway, so I could end up having this stored away for nostalgic purposes. Or, I could go ahead and set it up for flight with the above mentioned engine. What would be the best way to go? Should I risk trying it with the .40 LA? Should I wait and save up for a larger engine, then take it out? Or, is it better that this one be preserved in case the plans, for some chance, end up becoming publicly available? Will these have any collector value eventually?

I would suggest at least a ball bearing 46 size engine. It flies well with a 50 to 61 2 stroke or 70 up to 91 4 stroke engine. You might try an os 65la, tt 61gp, or magnum 52xls if your on a tight budget.

Mine has an OS 91 surpass in it. I had to bend the landing gear to get the prop clearance. It pulls streight up like a bat out of hell. i would say this is over kill! i think that new OS .55 two stroke would be a great fit or a pumped 70 fourstroke. I think the Saito 80 would even be a great match for all out virtical preformace. I'm thinking of selling my airframe though. I had a bad landing and i ripped the gear off witch inturn ripped the radio hatch plate off. I'm kind of too lazy to build a new hatch and refab the gear mount. pluss i want to take the radio/engine out and put it in a 60 sized mustang i've had my eye on. It has a Beeni-Baby duck head for the pilot i ripped off. I stole it from my sister durring the "craze" she had like 100's of them so this one was not missed. Plane flys great just the mentioned damage. Make me an offer i can't refuse. you would have to pay shipping of course. Pick up would probibly be better as you Pizzaz fenatics know this plane has a truly fixed wing that would be very hard to remove with out the assistance of a hard crash. Norfolk, if you wanted to you could keep your new one in the box as a colector's item and the beat the hell out this one. any way let me know if any one is interested. my e-mail is [email protected] . Oh i also live in Bozeman MT if so you have an idea of where you would have to pick it up.
