Cermark SU-31 Sukhoi
Here's a BRAND new one...a Cermark SU-31 Sukhoi...and it's a Dandy!! One fine looking plane, can't wait to get it in the air. It's 1/4 scale, which makes for a 68" wing...should come in right around 10 pounds with the right engine. They even provided Robart hinge points in the ailerons, and a decently painted aluminum landing gear! The Hitec HS605BB servos I've got will go in the back, same servo's are going in the wings. I've got a few engine choices...I have an ASP 90 2 stroke sitting on the bench, and a YS 91 AC 4 stroke in my pattern plane. I have access to a G-23 too...which one do you think I should go with??? I'm attaching a few pics...let me know what you think!!

Another pic...
The color pattern is adapted from the aircraft of the Italian show team, Frecce Tricolori. The bottom is Red, White, Green, and Grey. The only thing missing is the decal for the cowl...

Another pic...This is a Christmas present from my wonderful wife....it took a few weeks to get here , but from what I am seeing, it's worth the wait.
Anyone else ordering one shouldn't have to wait, Cermark was waiting on the different components to complete the kit. I checked the Cermark website, they don't even have it listed there yet, but it's in their 2003 catalog

I will...and I may put the G-23 on it, simply because I want to try a gasser...glow fuel eats me alive, since out here in the desert we can fly practically everyday...
Now, I just need a pilot...I've got me eye on a Terminator figure from Walmart...

no, dont get a G-23. Get a Mackay 30cc (www.moki.co.uk) .. i think this is equivalent to RCS 1.8 ..... ZDZ may have some small engines, otherwise Zenoah have a G-26 ... 23cc weight and size but 38cc power... brand new see www.glensmodels.com .

No, the entire plane is built-up balsa. I'm really leaning towards the G23...mainly because it is in my price range (I'm poor!!), and because I believe with the ASP 90 I have, I coming out really tail heavy...so I may need the weight up front to make it balance.
Here's a new pic...radio is installed...only thing lacking is the motor installation

I've looked at that one, and a few others...but the G-23 is available locally (small town), and it's affordable...I would love to have more power, but I can always go bigger down the road...

With a 68" wing span you will ruin a nice wing loading with that g23. It weighs about as much as a zdz 40 and has no more power than a 4 stroke 150. I would look for a used ys 120 or go to a saito 150. even a 2 stroke 120 should be enough motor to hover a 10 - 10+ pound plane. If I were you I would put the ys 91 you allready have in it and see how it does.
nice plane by the way

I have a OS 1.60FX with perry pump and pitts style muffler for sale in the "engines for sale forum" right now. Would fit perfectly in there
Better priced then the G-23 also (and of course more power) !
Send me an email if interested. I work with you on price !

Maiden Flight was Today!!!
OK, everyone who said it would be underpowered with the G-23 was right...but other than that...WHAT A PLANE!!!!
Looks good in the air, flies great...rolls better than some Pattern Planes I've owned...It's just a touch nose heavy right now, and I need more throws...but that will all come. I did notice it's only real weakness...when you cut the throttle on landing it drops like a rock...have to fly it all the way down.
Now if my thimbs keep it in one piece.....

And yes, all the Sukhois will drop, like a rock (wait until you fly a Christen Eagle one day), so be careful dead sticking it and trying to turn. Just land wherever you can.
Just my $0.02

I will watch the elevator...I've flown a Cap 21...I know all about snapping all the way to the ground...
I'll have to keep airspeed up...just like the real thing...when I deadstick the plane.
I'm running an APC 15x8 on it right now...I'm thinking about a 16x6...we lose a little bit because of 4400' altitude.
