Default Funtana 90\YS110 Prop Sellection

Hey Guys,

Was out at the field the other day and was working on my hover's. I have a Funtana 90\YS 110 20/20 PMwith a 16x6 APC. At higher altitude I can hover for almost 1 minute, then loose it to roll out. At low altitude I can only hold it for 5-8 seconds then it rolls out. I do not have the thrust to "pull" the plane verticle. So, my question is which prop should I go too? I've been told a 16x4W, and on the other end a 16x8 .......

As always, any input greatly appreciated ......... Greg

I'd try the 4W you dont want an 8 unless you want to see how your plane flys w/o a tail.

16-6 is the most used prop on ys 110 for 3-d applications, maybe you should try different kinds of 16-6`s and also wooden props?? 16-4 will most likely rev too high for the 110`s liking. 17-4 would be fine

The APC 16x6 is the best all around prop for the mighty 110. I can get 13lbs 5ozs of thrust with it. The 17x4W is second best with 12lbs 6ozs of thrust. It has less thrust but is much easier to hover with. It has slower spool up and less thrust all which would intuitively tell you it isn't as good for hovering. Wrong! It's far easier to hover with the 17x4W. But the best overall prop is the 16x6. Perhaps you should practice more to get hovering down with the 17 and then go back to the 16x6. The 16x4W is not enough prop for the mighty 110. I use that prop on my Saito 100.

Thanks
Barry

Thanks Barry,

I've only got about 16 flights or so on the Funtana. Been working on the CG and distribution of. I have it pretty dialed right now, or at least it feels right, had 2 other previous Funtana owners fly it and they said it was better than theirs.... and they could hover. So, maybe it is just me. Only time on the stick will let me know.... Thanks for your input .......... Greg

my vote is the 17x4w apc. I never used anything else on my 110 so i can't comment on the 16x6
