Anyone have a Tribute 36 and a 40La combo?
I was going to stick my 40LA in my new tribute 36,my question is: Would it hover at 1/2 stick or so? What would be the best prop to use? Any thoughts on this?

We were just flying one today with an OS .25 !! ... and that flew an 11x4 APC prop. The 40 should do it. The .25 would just barely hover it at full throttle.

LOL...!!!
I wish I live sea level like you...
Forget about flying it, but even consider hover it with a 40LA in the front...!
I have lightened mine as far as I can without chopping out half a wing panel and will barely pull out of a hover with a .46fX/Mac exahust combo...!
Let us know how it works plz...!
Best regards...

I fly at 8000+ ft over sea level....
Notice how instead of fly a vertical line out of the hover I push down elevator in order to achieve a comfortable hover exit

Very nice video. Should I scrap the 40 LA idea and get a more powerful motor? What would you guys recommend?

I fly (or did fly- just crashed it [&o]) a tribute with a TT42 (similar to the 40LA). With an APC 11x3 spinning 13,300rpm, I could hover around 3/4 throttle. My tirbute weighed 3lbs 13onces ready to fly. I think your 40la should do fine. It's a super fun plane, I'm going to replace mine shortly.

What are the numbers on a prop? I assume the first is length, and secon is pitch. If so would the 11x3 have more or less pitch than the 11x4 the manual recommends? I understand, less pitch would = more RPM.

An 11x3 is 11" with a 3 pitch raiting. It will give you more RPMs than an 11x4 and thus give you more pull.

Unless you lighten the airplane a lot, the 40LA won't even climb the airplane vertically. I put a .40SF in the tribute and didn't do any mods. It with a 10X5 APC it still doesn't climb vertically. If i were you i and just wanted to get the thing flying as quickly as possible, i'd put in an OS 55 or an Evo 52
