I have a showtime 90, with a satio 100, (broken in with 5 gallons of fuel), it pulls about 9400 RPM on 20% nitro with APC 16X4, my issue is the plane is 10.2lbs (dry), which is 1 lb over normal weight. Our field is grass, many bumps and ruts, my gear just pulled out on normal landing. So I had to really "beef up" the fuse with a more wood 1/8, right to the firewall, and add more supports on struts, gear is great now, but I added about 3/4 to 1lb in the process. I am learning 3D, and I want MAX power from my saito so I can pull out in a hurry...if ever needed.

Can I run 30% in it ? Do I need to add extra oil then ? Even at 10.2lbs, could a Saito 100 have enough power for 3D (if MAX'd out). I am hoping to pull 10,000+RPM with 16X4 on 30%, would that be enough balls for 10.2lbs hover ? Reading up someone said this got 12.5lbs "static thrust" from a Saito 100, so I would think this is enough ?

Any suggestions would be great (other than buy Saito 125 or OS120) ! I want to MAX out my current set up before I move up engine sizes !

i would run 30% or swap out the 100 to a 120 if you still do not acheive the results you R looking for on the 100. I ran a 120YS on mine until it threw a rod. I have the plane parked in the ceiling now.

i heard that the saito 100 is not big enough for the Showtime 90, that is in general, normal weight, you might have to get a larger/more powerful engine. I plan on running the O.S. 120 AX in mine, just haven't finished it yet.

Wow, over 10 lbs.... That's satio 180/YS 140 with 30% teritory.
A 6 lb plane with 30% nitro on a satio 100 is about right for "pulling out in a hurry". You really want closer to 2:1 power to weight.
Even if you get that plane to hover you will have nothing left to pull out or even control the hover with any fuel.

I have a Showtime 90 with a YS110. It is 8.5 pounds.

The Saito 100 is more fit for the Showtime 50.

I am afraid I agree with the above. 30% will help some but a 1.00 is on the small side for the big Showtime. Most 3D guys like 1.5:1 or 2:1 power to weight ratio. A 10+lbs plane making 12.5lbs of thrust is 1.2:1 at best. Your HA KE and Harriers will be OK but your hover pull out will be marginal.

put a os120 ax in it it's a great engine bags of power and has a good sound for a big 2 stroke. 5% fuel 17x8 zinger prop. pulls out of hovers with ease.

thanks, we'll 10lbs is what my bathroom scales reads! I'll try with a more accurate scale. Why does Hanger 9 recommend the Saito 100 if not enough power ?

because u always will get the min the 100 will fly the plane just fine but if you are wanting to do more than just fly it u need more its the way of the world. We see it with computers all the time with new applications require the min but the minium just pisses some off lol

A saito 120 - 15% on a Goldberg ultimate at approx the same wt was certainly too heavy to fly anywhere near the ground. It would barely hover and needed 100' of altitude to recover. Too bad engines get heavier when they get bigger..............
