Just tuned in......

For 3-d a 4-stroke is the way to go...... much more low end grunt..... the 2-strokes just seem to be all up top.....

On a budget, pick up a Magnum .91... 4-stroke.... Great engine, great price....

Would stadard 9$ servos work on this or with the extreme throws would it wander<<<<?????

Had some nice carbon links arrive for my chinn today, I will most likely be replacing the rudder servo with a specky DS821 as I have found a place that does a good deal on them. The SC91 fs will be purchased when i have the cash, should be a good combo when its all finally together

Kochj, I have not flown it enough to be able to say, when its all ready with the 91FS i will report back.

Not true at all.... Have you not ever tried a MCP/header combo? What about a 55AX-with the correct prop it does a perfect job. Yes, I have a Saito .82 on mine but I also have several profiles with 2strokes as well-both do a fantastic job. By the way, I can hover my Mojo 40 @1/4 throttle with my two stroke setup.

Well I have been looking at this bird quite a bit and I sure would like to get one if they would come back in stock. Has anyone heard anything?

I got mine from SMC when they were doing a deal on them, If/ when this one meets its end I will probably be looking at the extra profile for the gear. After much thought I decided to retire my wild card and stick the Sc 52 in my chinn yak, should be bags of power with the right prop. I also got some Pete Tindal linkages. Haven't had a method of transport to the field for the past couple of months, so I am waiting eagerly to be able to report back to you guys with a proper flight report, will also be chucking the sticks to a mate to get a second opinion. Anyone got any pics of their Chinn yak they want to show off ?

Great news guy! I just got an email yesterday from Curtis at Extreme RC and they have the Chinn Yak's in stock! I ordered my Billy Hell version this afternoon. It missed the UPS guy so it wont go out till monday. With it being Thanksgiving week who knows if I will get next week or not. No big deal though as I am pretty busy right now anyways. Get your while they last!! [8D]

Best engine for this plane is the Webra 50 with the Xoar 12x4. The lightest setup and plenty of power.
Saludos.

Personally, I prefer the 55AX over the Webra 50 in the Chinn Yak.

I never have tried the OS 55 on a profile but for sure they are great engines. I have seen some here and they run great. I would love to try one!!!
What I liked about the Webra is the lightness.

McDDD, remember that the P R O B R O links are forbiden here
But for sure that a great vid!!![8D][X(]

Yep, I forgot about links to t-h-e-p-r-o-f-i-l-e-b-r-o-t-h-e-r-h-o-o-d mysteriously turning into **** on this site. Just make the appropriate substitution to watch the video.

I used to run Webra 50s until I got a 55AX. Now I own and fly four 55AX, and the Webra 50s are collecting dust. I love the 55AX!

Awesome video Dave! I just got my Chinn Yak yesterday! I got a fairly new 55AX ready to go in it. WHat kind of servos do you use in your Yak? I just have a set of old standards to use for right now. Hopefully these will work till I can get some digitals later on.

I'm running Futaba 9252 with a Tower TS-53 on the throttle. Battery is a 6 volt 900 NiMH built from 5 AAA Energizer cells that came from WalMart.

Standard servos on 6 volts should work OK for general 3D flying (hovers, harriers, etc.), but for aggressive 3D flying (pinwheels, snap rolls, etc.), I'm not sure standard servos will have enough speed and torque.

Hey, despite the rain I had to get out to the field to test it today, seeing as it will be the only opportunity to fly for a while. The yak was setup and tuned and then taken to the air. She flys so sweet, power is minimal and she will eventually start to very slowly tail slide out of a hover, will be trying a throttle pipe to just get that little boost it needs. Chucked the sticks to a mate who thought it flew great. even on the standard servos. Overall I love the way this plane flys will be having lots of fun with it

What motor are you using again?? I flew mine for the first time the other day in a good while-what a nice plane!! It will do some nice freestyle stuff and then bite its own tail off in a nanosecond inverted harriers are this planes thing!!

Im using a SC 52 two stroke with a 13x6 or something like that, just to see how it would work. Im planning on going back to the 12x4 or finding a 13x4 as I think that would be as close to perfect as I could get.

Skip the 12x4 and the 13x6 on that SC 52.

An APC 13x4 (not wide) should vastly improve the performance, especially the pullout from a hover.

I think you are probably right. The more I have worked on this plane and seen how huge the control surfaces are I realize I am going to need some more grunt. I bought a set of Spektrum (JR) DS821 Digitals for my GP Reactor and they are a great bargain and they have alot of power for the price. You can normally pick up a set of four off eBay for less that $100. I think Iam just going to assemble it right now with the standards then upgrade later.

Anyone know where I can find one(or two) of these? Looks like E.F. is out of stock.

I got mine in June and they said that there would be plenty coming in a couple of weeks later-I know for a fact that it was several months before any came in and then I think it was only a very few. Lesson here is if you want a couple or are just considering it, better order them the day they come in cause it may be several months before they are around again.
