Twist 40 O.S.55 engine rpm
I just installed a new O.S.55 engine in my Twist 40 after the first run in tank of fuel following the break in instructions for that engine my RPM were 9600 on the high end with temps around 225deg. This is when the engine is set for about what the normal running conditions will be, so the engine seems to be running good but the RPM seem a bit slow. I am using a 13X6 prop which is one of the recommended props for this engine.
Does the 9600 rpm seem correct to anyone or does it seem a bit low? ,of coarse for all I know I am reading my tach wrong I've never had much luck with that thing.

RE: Twist 40 O.S.55 engine rpm
Well I'm on my third Twist 40 now, and not from crashing. I run the 55ax with usually an APC 13x4 or an APC 12x5 which I just broke now have to put a new one on. I forget my tach readings on both props but who cares, that engine spins either one really well. I don't use any props on the Twist with anything greater than a 5 inch pitch, the ailerons just can't take high speed on this plane. To check for any problems before it falls apart look for th wrinkle at the aileron horn, very weal mounting area. My Twist is my daily flyer for warming up to my X100. I really enjoy the Twist with the 55, I flying in the wind as well without worrying about it. I broke in my 55 right in the plane, the 55 is such a reliable engine, just fuel and go. Good luck in your choice of props and have fun.

Wilki01 I have over 300 flights on my OS 55 13-6 turns 10,700, I pull 200 rpm out of the motor then fly. Also ran a 13-4W lots of pull, not to fast. Sorry do not remeber the rpm.

Thanks for the help and replies, I've been very busy the last couple of days so I haven't had a chance to check back.
I did try a 13X4 prop and got my RPM's up over 10,000 which is more what I what expecting I will also get some other props and see what works well.
