Oh.. uh.......what was I thinking? That's right..... 2 cases....... Or I could ask for 4 and maybe end up with 3. [X(] I better tell her I need a case of Saitos too..... [:-] She'll probably just say "I don't know what you mean. Maybe you should order it yourself." [8D]

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Any one having problems with reverser on elev. servos? I changed out my elev servos from Futaba 3004's to jr ST125Mg's. Elev. is acing like it is getting radio hits sitting in the basement. I think it is the reverser. Was wondering is you guys know of a better reverser or any ideas on what this could be.. Thanks

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I took it outside still acting crazy!! I just don't get it.. I have a FUtaba t6exap radio. I don't think I can mix the elevators. I am using flapperon and mixing ailerons but i would be willing to give that up to solve this problem. I had no problems with the futaba 3004. I wonder if it could be the metal gears making interference.. I don't know... Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![&o]

GT2R,
It's just the elevators flipin out? If so, it must be the reverser. Have you tried to move your antena? Best solution is a Futaba 9C! My UCD has all the mixes, flaperons, spoilerons, flap>ele, ailerons > alievators, snaps..... all easy to do on the 9C, and copy to another plane to boot.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I had the same trouble with a mix of futaba and Hitec servos near the tail of a Twist that I was trying to set up. The anntena wire went through a tube right next to the servos. It glitched and twitched like crazy. I took the ant. out of the tube and ran it along the bottom of the plane and the problem went away.....[:-]

I have to wonder about the model mfgs sometimes. For example;
UCD 46/90 - fuel tank center line is how far above the carb? 1.5~2 inches?
GP Giles 202 kit - antena tube runs 1/2" away, parallell to both the rudder and 2 elevator pushrods, which are metal....glitch city.
Funtana 90 or should I say Funtana 120? thus the reason I had to STUFF a YS 140 in there.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Well I had to take the metal gear servos back and get some futaba hi torque nylon gear servos to cure the problem. I tried a new reverser with same results. I also tried a different receiver same results. Antenna is external going up to the top of the rudder right out of the receiver.
I just don't know what to think other than the metal gears freak the reverser out!!!!
When you plug the metal gear servos into the receiver without the reverser they worked great..
I'll just take it as a lesson learned!!! No metal gears for me when using a reverser!!!
Someday hope to get a better radio where I can mix more stuff.
Thanks for the help anyway. You guys have cured many other problems. Can't get a homerun everytime!!! Have a good one!!

What is the difference in a chep one and the works?
What price range do you think for a good used one?
I see $350 for a new one.
Wish I would have known better when I was a newbie 4 months ago. I bought the 6exa not knowing any better. I have learned alot the last few months.. Just a little to late is all.
Thanks

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I use a 9CAP. I also have two. Just in case I have a failure during flying season I can go to the other one. I have all 6 planes programmed into the radio exactly the same. If one radio goes down I'm ready with the other one.
Chief Aircraft will sell the 9CAP as transmitter only. If you catch one of their specials you can get it for $289. Then you can use your existing receiver and servos and purchase what servos you want.
Thanks
Barry

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Got my 46 done tonight!!!! I just did the AUW on it: 5lbs 14ozs. Before I crashed it, it weighed 5lbs 12.5ozs. I'm very please with that. Either that or I didn't use enough glue and blasa for the repair. Guess we'll see. But I used CA only and put in the same parts, spar for spar etc. My CG went back to 5 3/4" from 5 5/8". I put everything, battery, receiver, servos etc back in the same place. But I should be ok at 5 3/4" Aren't some of you guys running your CG there?
I've inspected the plane everyway I know how. It looks as straight as a new one. The incidences are the same as near as I can tell. I'm pretty happy with the repair. And basically no cost...well if you don't count the new Saito 82. I put the Saito on the bench and test run it for 60 minutes. Now I've got it in the plane ready to go. With the 14x4W prop I was able to turn 10200 RPM with my 30% fuel. Not to bad.
This repair took me longer than to build the ARF but I needed a project so it was a perfect fit.
I'll post pictures tomorrow sometime. I really am pleased with the repair. My goal is fly this baby at least 100 times before crash. We'll see!!!!>!>!>!>?!?!?!? gjeffers is at 300...that must be a record.
I'll do the maiden on Friday afternoon. And then put the other 99 flight in on Saturday.
Thanks
BArry

Barry[&:] Good luck on maiden II. She'll fly like a new one. 100 flights sounds impossible to me. Weather here in OH is turning to crap. high in the 50 next 7 days with a chance of snow at night. when the time change come around. Last Sat. of month, thru the week flying won't be possible. Sure do like this UCD 46. Don't want to quit just yet.
Do we need metal gear servos on UCD?

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
dougwill...I'm in the same boat as you as far as weather. We are on very limited time. Our weather has been kinda Indian Summer like for the past few weeks. Very nice. In the mid 60 during the day and down to high 30 at night. But this week it's changing. Brisk winds and cool. High 40. Hopefully I'll get a break on Saturday so I can fly this bird a few times. But we are definitely on a very limited time left to fly. Come winter a couple of our club members fly on the snow. I don't. I just give it a rest until March or so. Unless I go and see gjeffers and raideron this year. That would be fun.
I can't wait to get the 46 up in the air again. It truly is a fun plane. I'm going to enjoy mine a bunch. It's funny as I've matured a little bit in this hobby I've tried other, more expensive, better planes, and I've enjoyed them and found things I like in all of them. I've tried an Extreme Flight Yak, Showtime, Funtana 90, Mayhem, Twist and Ultra Sticks. But I always come back to the UCDs. Both the 60 and the 46. It keeps my interest and is just more fun to fly. Especially the 46. And it takes a lot less money and effort to fly these babies. I love them.
To answer your question on the metal gear servos, here's my take. I think the plane performs better and is at less risk of flutter (the control surfaces are huge on this plane) with metal gear servos. I wouldn't use anything else. I've actually stripped two Futaba 9001 servos on the ailerons of my 60 size. Two seperate incidences which didn't result in a crash,...but almost. That was scary enough for me. I won't use anything else now. And I've stockpiled a few of the HiTec 5625, 5645, and 645. I buy them when I see a good sale. You can get the 645 for about $33. The 56XX for about $45 if you shop around. It's worth it to me. Others have had success with the nylon gears and that has been a debate on this forum and other forums for a long time. I just don't see the need to take the extra risk. They are not that much more money and the piece of mind is a blessing. I have plenty of other ways to crash, I don't need a servo's help.
thanks
Barry

No I haven't opened it. Can you believe that ?!?!?!?! [X(] Well, it's a long story but basically I didn't tell my wife that was getting it..... ([X(] que in more shock and horror [X(] ) So it's kind of in hiding untill the appropiate time, if there is such a thing. [:-] That's one big box though. Could be kind of hard to hide. I opened the door last night and here's this huge Sig box on the porch and I thought "I didn't know Sig made refrigerators" [X(] I better get to know the new neighbors and see if I can hide it over there...
