Ok! here goes, ya gotta have a lot of ele(45deg or more) then take it way up(were gonna do a inverted flatspin)cut to idle and start a dive straight down, and give full left ailerons when it gets spinning real good then give it full down elevator and full right rudder and it will start entering a flatspin but you have to give it some throttle and start going right on your ailerons untill you get a flat flatspin.

and a 5.5 or more CG will also help

good luck

I enter mine sort of the same way, but instead of starting the dive, I let the plane stall,
or I'll cut the throttle, then I give full Rt. rudder, full down and full Rt. ail. and as she
rolls over I'll slowly input Lt. ail. till she stats the inverted flat spin.. adjusting throttle
and ail. input.... There are different ways to enter it... Then there's the F. S. landing...

I just started doing blenders which end in a inverted flap spin.. I think that's what they
are [sm=confused.gif]....
I go vertical till she stalls, do a hammer head / rudder turn and head stright down
and input full Rt. ail. let her spin for awhile adjusting throttle to increase spin, at your
choosing while holding full ail. give full Rt. rudder, the tail of the plane will move out
some and the spin will increase sort of violently, you can play with the throttle to
really shove the plane around... Then input full down elev. which will push the tail
outward incerasing the spin, then she will slow down into a inverted flat spin....
depending on your speed it put a lot of stress on the airframe... But it's Kewl
exit however you like, Or shoot for the F.S. landing to top it all off and call it a day

The UCDs do some of the best flat spins out there. They will even do a rising inverted flat spin. Not many will do that. The only planes I know that will do them as good are the Mayhems and the Twist. Maybe some profiles. But the UCDs are at the top in this catagory. Gjeffers and Raideron are telling you how. I do mine the same and just hold it for landing.

Very impressive flying planes the UCD.

Thanks
Barry

Thanks for the input guy's, the thing i dont understand ( and its probably me ) is that i normally fly 33% 'r and dont have a problem doing any of these move's with the bigger bird's.

I got the u can do cause i haven't flown in about 8 months( been flyng it now for about a month ) and wanted to fly something a little smaller to unrust my thumbs. so far it's been a great little plane but it's starting to piss me off cause i cant seem to get it to flat spin. but i was always trying upritght flat spins.

Now what about water falls. i can only get it to do about 3/4's and it falls out.

I guess im going to have to burn some more fuel this weekend.

O yeah this thing is a blast with a saito 100 on the nose.

Dennis C...I was gonna say you didn't have enough power...but then I read you have a 100 on the nose. That should do it. Now I gotta think you don't have enough elevator throw. That would hurt your flat spin and especially your waterfalls.

I have the Saito 82 on mine and it will waterfall over and over and over and over...well you get the idea. It will actually just flip on it's length and not drop in elevation. Easy to do. I'm sure if your flying 33% you are fully capable of doing good waterfalls so it has to be in your setup.

Keep looking...you'll find the problem because this plane will do it all.

Thanks
Barry

Hey Barry, Yea i'll have to check my throw's again ..I know when i set it up i had 45 deg's on the elevator's. but i did put my D/R's on one switch and that might have changed things.

Same here on the waterfalls, They were really tight, and it was coming down ohh
so slowly, it was almost spining around itself.. That was the first for me without it
rolling out say after the 3nd or 4th.... Maybe my washer helped that also

they also do a really great knife edge spin(and landing) although a little harder to do than a flatspin landing they are do-able

Hey Gary, I'm getting better at my inverted flying. I'll have a "low inverted pass" picture soon. [X(]

Ok,
Got her in the air this morning and WOW!! it lifted off and for the first time i had it dialed in trimwise and didnt even have to trim anything, had straigt and level flight right off the building tabel, unbeleivable

was real satisfied and she flew just like my old Do

did all the goodies perfect, only could get it to do a zero loss inverted flatspin though, will get it to rise later, but the knife edge spin was Fantastic[X(]

will have to add a couple of degrees on the Right thrust because i had to input way too much rudder to keep my tail straight

Very Good Day[8D]

Great on your maiden Gary)).... Yeah.. You have to keep that tail stright....
But some hook ain't bad... depending what your doing.....

It's nice when you get it right on trim wise right off the bat... You can just get right
into all the tricks.....

Congratulations Gjeffers.... I love to hear the successful "Do" stories. With the 100 I'm sure you will have to add a washer or two to hover decent. And the rising flatspin will surely come.

Good job.
THanks

Oh, almost forgot. Good job on the build when you don't need to trim. I'm getting better at setting mine us also. The last two planes I've built haven't had to have very much trimming either. I think if you take great care on "basement trimming" the plane it works a lot better in the field.

Well after 3 seasons of flying, 2 different wings, knocking the landing gear off 4 times, and knocking the firewall out 3 times, the UCD had it's last flight this evening. About 4-5 minutes into the flight, I lost all control of everything (no aileron, elevator, rudder, or throttle) all I could do was stand there and watch the last 10-12 seconds of my favorite planes life and wonder what had happened. After it piled the prop nut a good 4 inches below ground I went to pick up the pieces. I fully expected to find the battery had somehow came unplugged but that was not the case. As I was picking up some small pieces of balsa, I noticed the receiver crystal laying on the grass. I picked it up and thought to myself NO WAY so I plugged it back into the receiver, turned on the transmitter and the power switch on the plane and all the surfaces at least tried to move. So I guess it's my own fault for not putting a piece of tape over the crystal in the RX.
