I wonder how critically would an extra 300 grams in the nose impact this new Funtana should I choose to use my existing CRRC Pro 26GFI gas engine instead of their suggested 20cc Saito gasser. Of course I'm thinking 3D exclusively.

I owned the X100 and it seemed to be a great performer. Unfortunately I lost it on maiden due to aileron flutter.
Hopefully H9 equips this bird with door hinges and not the flimsy CA style hinges that perhaps brought down my plane

a friend of mine had the X100 with the crrc26cc in it and loved it. The plane flew great. I'm thinking about getting one and putting the crrc I have in it.

I have the CRRC 26cc gas in my X100 and love it. At 9.5lbs, I can toss it around all day without issues. Excellent combo, for me anyways.[8D]

I have the 100 with a OS 120FS and it is a beast. I turn a 16x6 APC and have just bought some wood 16x6s to try. I love the plane and there is nothing that it won't do. I will also be getting one of these when they come in. I will either go with the trusty 120 or try a light gas set up also.

I have a vess but use JXF on all my bigger stuff. I got the vess because it is what my local dealer had instock. I have been told that the wood spools up quicker and is better for 3D. I could have waited if i would have know that i was going to have to repair the right wing because of a dumb mistake. For such a light airframe it held up well in its fight with the tree and impact with the ground. I knew that it was going to be sticks when i found it, but all I had to replace was about ten inchs of the leading edge and sheeting. Got one side covered and as soon as the orange comes in i will finish.

Yeah, we noticed that, looks cool.

I wonder how its flying characteristics might change with airfoiled tail surfaces.

Hey, I'm a 100x flyer, I put a 26 XYZ in mine, and enjoy it. But I should have put in a RCCF or spent the money and got a better name engine. Lesson learned. When I found out that the tana was discontinued, I was P___sed. But now they have a replacement comming. I'll be sure to have on buy Mid summer. I went to numberous sights and found that some are taking orders, but don't heve exact delivery dates yet. I suggest going to your LHS and order it from them. They will have priority (ussally) over online orders. The only question I'm going to have is should I go with a 26cc or maybe a 35cc. I would like to know from someone that has had a chance to weigh it with a gasser on it, that may help me on my desciosion.

wilki- With your CRRC, did you cut a hole in your fire wall for the carb? I thought about that engine, but thought the only to get it to fit was to cut out the fire wall and possibly loose strangth, espically with the viberations, torque, ect. I know the CRRC is 2.8hp where as the XYZ is 2.5 hp, but the side mounted carb is what sold me on it and i couldn't find the RCCF engine anywhere. It has the side mounted carb as well.

P.S. I saw your post after i wrote my last post. Sorry for not being observant.

My funtana X 100 had a O.S 120 AX which is said to have 3.1 HP and wieghs 8 Ibls. It's a amazing combo and amazing plane to fly, one of the best 3D planes i have and according to specs the new Funtana it a sight bit lighter as well. I'd like to try this engine in the new Funtana, just have to wait for it

opps- I got my accroymns backwards. Wilki- can you hover with that engine? My XYZ will hover, but at about 7/8 throttle. I was hopeing for a little more power out of the engine. However i'm not done with the break in period and still running 40:1 ashless oil in it. As soon as break in period is done i plan to go to 50:1 synth. and hope that will give me a bit more power. What are you runing in yours? I noticed that you have a lot of the cowling cut away for the carb, with the XYZ the carb fits in the cowl. the only cutting needed was for the head and muffler. When i get the 125 tana i can use all the mods i made on the 100x and just transfer it over and will save loads of time on the trial and error method i used before.

The NON-airfoiled tail surfaces of the 100x was what need to be improved the most.......

Aluminum gear??? the stock gear was fine on the prevy....
Aluminum is heavier, and bends very easily (the aluminum metals from China is not good quality.... it is crap)\
Companies have had to import there aluminum and have it milled in China.....
I would have perfered the CF gear come with it (can always use my left over from the 100x) lighter flies better!
If they did that they would haveto raise the price another 60$.... and that would mean less sales....

Argue what you want, but h9 and Great planes are about selling MASS quantities of aircrafts, and making profit from them...
Cf is exspensive to make....I figured that h 9 wasn't making a profit with all that nice CF ( wing tube and main gear) on the 100x.......
I believe that was the main reason for axing it.....

They could then fix the back tailsurfaces, and stop including the the Carbonfiber on the plane.... and still make it affordable to the masses...

THis plane is just a tad too small for gas in my opinion....26 cc's/..

Everything on this plane is the same deminsions as the previous..... ws wa ect.....

I bet I could use my wings of the funtana 100x?

I still believe that the best 1.20 size 3d precision aircraft was the QQ 69" yak 54.......

You can always buy the Nitromodels version of this ...... You will just have a heck of a time getting parts for it unless you buy 2-of them!!

friessen:

For what ever it's worth, just a comment on your thought processes on reducing oil content to improve performance on a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine. When you reduce oil content, you increase friction/heat and end up with the related excessive wear. I recall when Bel-ray came out with their 100/1 racing oil, and the majority of the dirt bike old timmers and go cart guys went for it. I stayed wih Yammalube R 32/1, never had a mechanical problem with the high-rev TKM, or Kaw. 250 engines for a full year of practice and racing. Was west coast cart champ, and old timmers expert dirt bike so called World Champ at Mammouth that year, running a 250 against 450 or so 500 cc guys from all over the world, starting line at 7500 feet. A few years later, the oil was outlawed as a unfair advantage, had a little octaine booster in it. I actually add 1-1/2 oz castor to my fuel when going raceing these days. Don't accept this old timmers opinion on face value, do some reading on the subject from Clairance Lee, you will be supprised. ENJOY

rmenke- Thanks for the info. I'm new to the gas side, and haven't had much training on it. i'll look it up and educate myself. Thanks again. But as far an the new Funtana, I;m ready fo it now. My 100x is really showing its age, The trim along the fuse is peeling off, and the wings are not mateing up to the fuse anymore. Its just getting worn out. Has anyone heard of the exact release date yet? I've got one ordered through the LHS, but they haven't heard when it is due in yet.

I have the new Funtana on backorder. The date continues to slip. First June, then July now early August. It's just as well as my 30CC gas motor won't be shipped until late July.
