I need a good Yak!
Alright guys, I need to enlist your help in picking me out a nice Yak airframe. I want it to be very 3D capable with a Saito 100-150 or YS 110-140 so it probably needs to be less than 11lbs. with a wing span of 65"-73".

Check out the Cermark 25% scale series 70"

Which one are you talking about? I really like the red, yellow, and white one, I believe this is the old version, but it shows to be out of stock.

RE: I need a good Yak!
I am leaning towards the Cermark 25% Yak (Yellow, Red, and White colors) but they show to be out of stock and since there is a new version they may not build anymore? Can anyone recommend an online site that carries Cermark planes?

Evidently this is the older version of the Peak Model Yak54. Here's the link to the latest.
[link=http://www.peakmodel.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=YAK54-A]http://www.peakmodel.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=YAK54-A[/link]
Also, check out the thread in this forum on the plane.
I purchased one recently, and received it from China in less a week. I used most of the hardware.

Both of those links are broken. I do not like the new version, orange or blue with checker board, but do like the older version, red,yellow,white. Does anyone know where I may find the older version in stock? What is up with Cermark and Peakmodels, are they the same company? Why can I never access Peak Models website?

I'm not sure if this is too heavy for your engine choice...

That is a very nice Yak but it is a little bigger than I want and more expensive than others I have been pricing. I really want to be at or under 10lbs. AUW. I would probably go gas on the Extreme Flight Yak and I want to build one more glow powered plane before venturing into gas.

I have the following engines on planes;
.46 Evolution
.56 Saito
.82 Saito
.100 Saito
It seems the next step should be a large glow and I want it to be a YS 110 or 140, then I will move onto gas and never look back.

RE: I need a good Yak!
There is a seller on here (RCU) that is selling 30% yak DL55 combo it is a peakmodel. I like yourself had troubles getting the sites to work and pm'd him off the listing for the yak I just mentioned. He sent me a link but it was chinese or something and it didn't work for me. Maybe you could contact him and he could help you out.

My understanding (limited as it may be) is that Peak Model planes are sold under various names.
I haven't had problems getting to their site. If the link doesn't work, just go to www.peakmodel.com
I haven't seen the 'older' one so I can't compare them.

I think Aero-works is the ticket here - for a 'nice' yak that will fly well with a YS 110. It's hard to find a quality yak that is big enough to fly well and yet light enough to power with a reasonable size glow engine.

RE: I need a good Yak!
I have it narrowed down to two choices, either the Peak Model 25% Yak, (Red, Yellow, White), or the Peak Model 25% Sukhoi SU 26. How much difference will there be in the way these two airframes fly? Which one would you guys choose and why?

The Yak is longer, has a bigger wingspan, is the same weight (lighter wing loading), is less expensive, and looks better

Joe, the reason I didn't mention the EF 74" is weight and engine size range he specified.
I have both the Cermark, which is sold by a number of places and built by ARF MFG in China, and the EF. The EF has a 46 gasser and is balistic especially with the control throw you can get out of it.
But I really like the 70" for its size, performance, and cost.
