Airtronics Vanguard with Tower Pro BMC

I'm as new as new gets. I don't have my own plane, and have only flown twice, my father in laws electric slow flyer. I have my father in laws old Airtronics Vanguard FM radio and the 92765/72 Band FM Receiver that goes with it. I also have a Tower Pro Brushless motor controller, 15 Amp, and a BM2408-21 Brushless motor. My father in law has no problem using this controller and motor with his new futaba radio and receiver, but want to know if this older radio and reciver can be used with this controller and motor. I am having trouble getting the connections correct. I have the motor connected to the controller, the same as it is for the futaba radio and receiver. When I connect the throttle control channel to the controller, turn the radio on, then connect the battery, I get a set of three beeps, a pause and then the same three beeps repeating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
