1/10 and 1/8 scale build questions
I'm a complete newbie to building models but wish to start. I have plans for a few of the early Gold Cup runabouts. Some plans call for a sub planking of 1/16 balsa and final planking with 1/16 mahogany. What is the big disadvantage of trying to plank with one course of 1/8" mahogany ? I think it would be somewhat easier to use thicker material for making bevels etc. Plus you'd have more material to work for final fairing.
I'd obviously gain weight using this approach, just wonder about other drawbacks.
