Thanks, I assume that when you say the Hitec one-way cable is because that's all Hitec makes or do I need to verify just what I have?

I'm pretty sure it's the only one they make.
There's only one listed at
www.hitecrcd.com
It will have the ends marked 'teacher' and 'student' or something similar.
My brother hooked up a Futaba 8U and Hitec Flash 5X with a Futaba cord and got smoke out of both. With my Hitec cord there have been no issues.
