I check them after the first hour of running after new or after the head has been re-installed for any reason. After that about every 10 - 25 hours of running time or after each season.
OK. Let me re-phrase. What do you look for (to know that they need adjustment)? Your answer tells me an example of
when to do it but not
what to look for on an older engine to know that it needs an adjustment.
It's not as if it's going to be pouring out clouds of smoke like a '59 caddy that has seen better days to know it needs a valve adjustment.
