I wouldn't prime it unless you want to add weight. Priming it wont do much difference to the paint after its on either way it will eventually ce scracthed. Hell what i do is every couple months I strip my bird down and sand off all the paint with 400 grit sandpaper. It doesn't ruin it foam but gets rid of the paint. Then I go back and paint it whatever color I want.
