yes you cut off the 10-32 end of the shank. This is why I said to get the long one! If you get the short one there is not enough of the shank left after you make your cut. If you do not have access to a lathe just put the adapter in your 3/8 dill pull the trigger back with a rubber band and use your cutting wheel on your dremel to make the cut. this will insure that your cut is straight acrossed the shank. Sorry it took so long to get back to you I just got a new laptop and have been spending alot of time getting use to Vista.
