Default What Frequency to use

I have had some rc stuff given to me. A 5ch Futaba PCM/PPM radio with a battery powered car. It is on 50.920. I have been told 5 different things by as many people about the set up. I know it is an airplane radio but is it "illegal" to use this frequency for a car? I dont want to invest a bunch a money into a new (car type)radio. I am a ham and want to use 6 meters. So do I need to move up to 53Mhz or is 50Mhz ok? I cant find anyone who can tell me the same thing. Should I ask som elocal "Plane" guys because all of the people in the hobby shops dont seem to know what 50Mhz is. They just look at me like im stupid. I just want to use this stuff for a while untill I move up to aircraft someday...Jim/WM5L Ft. Worth,Tx
