Congratulations, d_t. Sounds like a successful project. The idle is almost always the last thing to work itself out when breaking in an engine. The more you run it the better it should get. But, this is a simple carb without an airbleed, so it might always load up a bit at low idle. How is the tank situated in relation to the spraybar? Lowering the tank a little bit could help if the idle is too rich.
