Default RE: Trouble starting savage

ORIGINAL: USNDALGE

I just purchased a Savage truck for my son and we can't seem to get it started properly. It ran for a few minutes yesterday, and since then, I have been unable to get it going. As soon as I remove the glow plug starter, the engine quits. On my last start attempt, the starter seems to have disengaged from the engine. When the electric starter shaft is inserted into the engine, it spins, but the piston is not moving.

Needles to say, this is a disappointing start for us.

Any input you have is appreciated.

Exactly same as me!! I first start it today, I just felt disappointing start for me. I have to use 1/2 throttle to get it running then remove the glow plug starter... But I feel that 1/2 throttle during break-in is no good, but I have to. It just refused to start on idle. I was like "***"
