It was designed and made by a guy in Dallas, Texas. I belonged to the Dallas R/C Club in the early 80''s and remember him bringing one of the prototypes to a club meeting and demonstrating it. This early version didn''t have any cooling vents in the handle and got kind of hot. It seemed to work pretty well.
